Acrylic bathtubs are popular due to their attractive appearance, variety of design and colors, affordable price and ease of installation. In addition, acrylic baths are light in weight, non-porous, most of them have antibacterial coating, and defects are cleaned with special pastes. But there are also disadvantages - the surface does not withstand mechanical damage, cleaning with abrasive means, and heat is kept to a lesser extent than cast-iron baths, and it is not recommended to sit on the sides of acrylic bathtubs.
Preparation for the installation of an acrylic bath
The bath is installed in a premise before its facing with tiles. Before choosing a new bath, block the central tap, dismantle the old bath, cut out or break out the old drain( depending on whether it's metal or plastic), clean the sewer flare, then insert a corrugation( drainage element) into it and lubricate the joints with silicone sealant, floorsmust be carefully leveled.
After that, proceed to the measurement, carefully checking all the dimensions of the place where the new bath will be. When choosing an arrangement, consider that the bath should not block access to the pipes, but at the same time snug against the wall. The final stage of preparation of the bathroom is cleaning of construction debris.
The shape of a bath can be not only rectangular, but also other geometric shapes - round, square, angular and other. In this case, despite the shape, the walls of the bath should not bend under the pressure of the hand, to be transparent, there should not be a corrosive chemical smell. A sign of quality is the number of supports. A sufficiently solid product has four angular supports, less strong - more. Complete the purchase, check the quality certificates, batch number of the product, availability of installation instructions, accessories, quality and number of fasteners.
