They have a whole list of advantages - mechanical strength, durability, elegant appearance, convenience in operation and a high degree of fire safety. Indeed, for an inexperienced eye it may seem that this is the same material that has a different profile, and you can choose one of them, based only on personal preferences. However, despite the similar technology and materials used, there is still a difference between these materials.
Features of metal tiles
Metal tiles look like traditional ceramic tiles, and this is facilitated not only by the shape of the profile, which has longitudinal and transverse waves, but also a special coating that creates a matt, gently shimmering luster. Covering metal tile - polymer dye, applied by baking. It is resistant to scratches, however, in places of damage, rust foci can form, so it is necessary to immediately cover them with a special spray paint.
The thickness of the metal tile, as well as the height of the wave, usually vary within small limits, and on roofs with a small slope of the ramp, the rise of the next transverse wave can create a zero gradient. This will worsen the conditions of water runoff and snow falling from the roof. Therefore, for roofs with a slope of less than 15 degrees, metal tile is not recommended.

The construction of a roof made of metal tiles requires the construction of a grating over the rafters, as well as a mandatory water vapor barrier layer. Otherwise, condensate and ice will form on the underside of the metal tile, the removal of which is difficult due to transverse waves.

Sheets of metal tiles can be up to 12 meters long, weight varies from 4 to 10 kg per running meter. Given that this material is rather light, carrying it is difficult because of the possible lateral deflection. The rigidity of a sheet of metal tiles is generally less than that of a corrugated board.
Metal tiles, with similar geometric dimensions and thickness, are always somewhat more expensive than corrugated board, which can also become a decisive factor in the choice of material, especially for the roof of a large area.

Features of the corrugated board
Profiled sheeting, in contrast to metal, has one direction of the wave - longitudinal, but different wave geometry, sheet thickness and type of coating. From the geometry of the wave usually depends on the appointment of corrugated board - it happens not only roofing, but also wall, and also used for the construction of fences and ceilings. The height of the wave varies from 8 to 60 mm, and the higher the wave, the greater the rigidity of the corrugated board, so you can easily find the mark of the profiled sheet for the roof with any slope of the ramp and possible snow load. Higher rigidity allows you to mount the corrugated board on the crate with a large step.
Varieties of corrugated sheet
Due to the absence of transverse waves, the corrugated board is less bent when carrying, has better conditions for water drainage. This facilitates its transportation, installation and operation. It should be borne in mind that for the same reason, often snow falls from the corrugated board, so snowmaking is necessary to avoid injury.
Coating of corrugated board also varies. There are three main types: galvanized corrugated board, coated with a powder dye or having a polymeric protective layer over a zinc coating. The third option is the most resistant to corrosion and has a very attractive appearance, juicy bright colors and shine. Galvanized corrugated board also has a high degree of protection against corrosion, but not everyone likes its bright gloss and reflective characteristics. A few years later, zinc dims, acquires a gray tint, however, it is easy to update by applying a special paint for galvanized surfaces. The least resistant to corrosion is corrugated board with a single protective layer of powder dye - any damage leads to rust during a year or two.
Waste during the installation of corrugated board remains much less - there is no need to adjust the longitudinal wave, the sheet does not have a strict orientation "top-bottom", it is easier to attach to the crate. With equal thickness, corrugated boards are almost always cheaper than metal tiles.
The disadvantages of corrugated board in comparison with metal can be attributed one of its peculiarity: on roofs with a large angle of incision, the corrugated board does not look very good, giving the structure a pronounced vertical elongation.
