Anyone who has experienced interruptions or lack of hot water supply is thinking about purchasing a heater. The optimal choice for many of our compatriots is a flow-through heating device that works on gas. Although in most cases such devices use natural gas for their work, there are models capable of functioning on liquefied gas.
Principle of operation
The water in the LPG column is heated while it flows through the heat exchanger, which is affected by the heat from the burner. While water flows inside the device, its temperature rises, as a result of which hot water comes in almost immediately after the column is turned on.
Flow
The gas costs during the operation of the column are influenced by many characteristics of the apparatus, and first of all, this is the power of the device. On average, if the equipment spends about 2.3 m³ of natural gas per hour, then liquefied gas will be spent only 0.8 m³ per hour.
Can it be used without a chimney?
At this time, customers are available models of columns that do not require the presence of a vertical chimney. They are called turbocharged and the main difference of such columns is forced ventilation through a coaxial tube, which can be led out to the street through a wall. Through this pipe, the combustion products from the column are simultaneously removed and the air is pumped from the street.
With closed combustion chamber
Most of the water heaters using gas in their work, the combustion chamber is open, but models are also sold with a closed chamber. In such a column, air gets from the street, and not from the room in which the device is installed. As a result, oxygen in the room is not burned out.
Is it suitable for dacha?
The column, which uses liquefied gas as an energy source, is considered a good choice for country conditions. Unlike natural gas and electricity, there is always access to liquefied gas at the dacha, and the demand for hot water in nature and away from centralized water supply is consistently high.
Operating Instructions
Never store a LPG bottle under direct sunlight or near any heating device. This also applies to laying the hose from the cylinder to the column. It is also forbidden to heat a gas cylinder or use a column when the cylinder is damaged. It is also important to ensure that the balloon does not have access from children or strangers.
Is it possible to adjust the column to a different kind and gas pressure?
Many columns can be adjusted for the use of liquefied gas, but this must necessarily be handled by a service organization with the appropriate certificate. In addition, readjustment is mandatory only with the use of a set of parts from the manufacturer of the column.
Re-commissioning work involves replacing the nozzles( nozzles) of the manifold so that nozzles with a hole diameter that is suitable for the type of gas and its pressure are installed on the machine as a result. For the time of readjustment the device must be switched off, and the gas shut-off valve is closed. When the readjustment is completed, it is necessary to evaluate the tightness of all connections. In addition, the type of gas, the date of the changeover and the organization that performed it, indicate the apparatus and its instructions.
Start and operation of the LPG heater is shown in the following video using the example of a gas boiler.
Installation and installation of
As soon as the column is tuned for LPG operation, you should pay attention to the characteristics of the gas cylinder:
- It must of course be equipped with a reducer, and its stabilization pressure should be 300 mm of water.
- The minimum vapor phase efficiencyThe cylinder should be 1 m³ per hour.
In addition, a flexible hose with an internal diameter of at least 12 mm and a length of up to 2.5 m should be selected. This hose must withstand the influence of the gas used, taking into account the set temperature and the set pressure. For this purpose, a hose certified for operation on a liquefied gas is selected. During connection, it can not be twisted and bent close to the tips.
If the hose needs to be installed with a bend, then the radius of such bending should not be less than 90 mm in its outer line, and bending should begin at least 50 mm from the tip. To avoid the appearance of kinks, use adapters and corner joints, and if the hose is too long, its installation allows the use of intermediate supports.
Having disassembled the hose, a gas shut-off valve is installed in front of the column, to which there should be easy access. When the installation is completed, all connection sections and the entire hose must be checked to detect leaks and leakage in good time.
