Currently, polystyrene is a very demanded material in the course of construction work. It is used for insulation of facades, balconies, cellars and other elements of the house. This material is also used for interior insulation from inside. In the latter case, it becomes necessary to fix the foam not only to the walls, but also to the ceilings.

Fastening of sheets of polystyrene is made with the help of dowels and without fail is supplemented by planting on the glue, so that the sheet with its entire area adjoins the sheltered surface. To do this, you need to choose the right glue.

What kind of glue is suitable for foam plastic?

In principle, the foam can be glued with any glue intended for tile, silicone sealant, any facade glue or using the universal mounting compound "liquid nails".Selecting glue, it is necessary to pay attention to its cost and components.

Dry mix

The most economical option is to purchase a dry mix, diluted with water before the most use. Such mixtures have a cement base and are intended for the foam, which is indicated on their packaging. Such mixtures are characterized by a high level of adhesion, reliability and durability. Before embarking on sheets of foam, you need to check the cleanliness of the bearing surface, where there should be no remnants of old plaster or any delamination. Before applying the foam, the surface is recommended to be primed.

The adhesive mixture can be applied in a continuous layer, in the form of strips or in separate areas. On each sheet should be five or more points of application of glue, with which it will be fastened on the covered surface.

Aerosol Adhesive

In addition, there are other types of glue that do not require additional preparation and are applied very quickly. As an example, we can mention the recently appeared polyurethane adhesive-aerosol, which is used when gluing foam plastic in both internal and external works. One glue balloon provides gluing of ten square meters of foam, and the duration of its hardening is less than half an hour.

Working with this glue, the balloon is inserted into the mounting gun and the glue is applied with a strip along the perimeter of the sheet, having deviated from its edge 2-4 cm. The same glue strips are applied along the diagonals. Then the sheet of foam with a little effort is pressed against the wall.

The cost of a glue bottle slightly exceeds the price of a dry bag, however, aerosol glue is more economical and practical for gluing foam.
