Roof of metal tiles - quality vs. price

How to choose the material?

Metal tiles are sheet galvanized steel coated with a polymer coating. You can make its installation on any type of surface, but there is one general requirement: the slope, under which the sheets will be laid, should not be more than 14 degrees. This roofing material is used in any climatic zones, for all types of objects: industrial, cottages, residential buildings, high-rise buildings and so on.

There are several types of metal roofing. The most popular types are:

  • Polyester - is considered a budgetary covering with a glossy surface that can be used in all climatic zones;
  • Matte polyester - it has a matte surface with high mechanical and color resistance;
  • Plastisol is the thickest coating, 200 microns, has an embossed surface and is the most durable of all types;
  • PVDF - a coating that consists of acrylic and polyvinyl fluoride, the surface is glossy.

The high conductivity of sound forces us to think about soundproofing ahead of time.

Roof from metal: installation process

The first step is the erection of the crate. This stage is very important, because it largely depends on the noise level, properly made lath can significantly reduce it. The cross-section of the beams for the crate must be of the order of 40x25 millimeters. The distance between the beams should be equal to the width of the sheet metal. Cornice board, the one that goes for the eaves, is 15 centimeters wider than the rest.

Fixing the sheets must be started from the top. For this, self-tapping screws are used with wide hats so long that they enter the crate for 50 millimeters. Stacking is done with overlapping of one sheet on another. Thus the whole roof is laid. As you can see, the process is simple and self-executing. Installation of the drain system is done at the very end.
