Wall plastering is a very important step in decorating premises, regardless of whether the walls are subsequently wallpapered or the surface will be preparedunder painting.

There are many nuances in this matter. So, some experts advise first to prepare the surface and completely clean it from flaws. Some advise not to spend much effort and do not prepare a concrete wall for plastering, and immediately sew it with plasterboard. But, as it turns out, an artificial, unstable wall later on in operation is problematic. It is impossible to attach kitchen cabinets, plasma TV, shelves, air conditioning, water heater and other heavy household appliances to it. That is why it is better to choose the old proven method of finishing the wall and perform the plastering of concrete walls with your own hands.

Classification of material

Currently, many different mixtures for wall decoration are on sale. For each surface, separate species are intended.

Common types of plaster:

  1. Gypsum( common) or a mixture of sand and cement. This plaster is designed for leveling walls, as well as to protect the surface from moisture and dampness, as well as temperature effects.
  2. Special. A mixture that has a narrow focus. Its main task is to protect the premises from radiation, to keep heat and to suppress noise.
  3. Decorative. The name itself says that this mixture is used for the final stage of repair work, when it is necessary to give the surface a beautiful appearance.

About

Before plastering a surface, it is necessary to perform a plastering of concrete walls. First remove the dirt from the concrete wall, dust. This is necessary in order to ensure a stronger adhesion of the material to the surface. After the preparation of the wall, a solution is prepared.

How to prepare the mortar properly

When it comes to plastering, it is necessary to follow such rules:

  • for a concrete and stone wall, which will be exposed to permanent precipitation, it is necessary to use solutions consisting of portland cement or slag cement;
  • stone and concrete surfaces, as well as facades that will not be exposed to rain( snow, snow) can be plastered with solutions consisting of a mixture of cement and lime;
  • internal plastering of premises, with air humidity not exceeding sixty percent( bath, laundry, bathroom), the first layer is cemented with lime, and the subsequent layers will consist of cement mortar.

Prepare a solution for plastering walls from a well sieved material( through a large metal sieve) and mix thoroughly so that there are no lumps and grains. One solution may contain one or more binders. The fat content of the solution is checked with a special tool - "trowel".

cooking

If the solution is very greasy, it will stick to the surface and go bad. To reduce fat, it is diluted."Skinny" solution, on the contrary, will not have a clutch and it must be supplemented with a single binder.

If you have prepared a thick, greasy solution and started to work, then after drying the wall can go cracked. Yes, and work with such a thick solution will be inconvenient.

You can prepare the mixture for plastering yourself, most importantly, adhere to the basic rules. So, the container for mixing the solution must be deep, metal or plastic. Cement is mixed in certain proportions with sand, and then is introduced into the "dough", which is diluted with water and mixed. To work with a solution, you need to know what kind of layer it will be, the first, second or third. Each solution for each subsequent layer is prepared according to its own recipe.

  1. To prepare a "lime paste", you need to take a piece of lime( not hydrated) and three parts of water. Stir, wait until the chemical reaction begins, add water and mix again. Keep the container closed and leave for 24 hours.
  2. Mortar solution."Dough" - one part, one fifth of the sand mix, add water gradually. Dilute to the necessary density.
  3. Clayey-calcareous. Dough( clay) - one part, dough lime( 0.4 parts), three to six pieces of sand( the more sand, the stronger the solution), water. All components are mixed, and water is gradually added.
  4. Cement mortar. It consists of a part of cement and two or three parts of sand. It is prepared in this way: cement and sand are poured into the container, mixed and diluted with water to the desired consistency.

If you decide to prepare a plaster solution from a finished mixture, carefully read the instructions on the package.

How to work with a solution of

The plaster of concrete walls, if you use the services of specialists, has an average cost. It is calculated based on the surface area and the cost of materials.

The peculiarity of the work on the plastering of concrete walls is that the surface often has an even and smooth structure. Because of this feature, the layer of solution may fall off. To prevent this from happening, small incisions are made on the wall.

Next, the wall is treated with a primer that will strengthen the surface and improve grip. In addition, the primer mixes prevent penetration of moisture and fungus.

After the primer has dried completely( usually one or two days stand out), you can start plastering the wall.

If there are large drops on the surface, then use a metal mesh. The application of the mixture is carried out in several stages.

grid

The first layer - "nabryzg" can be applied using a pump. If there is no special device, plaster is applied manually with a special spatula. The thickness of the mortar layer should not exceed five millimeters.

nabryzg

Before applying the first layer, it is desirable to moisten the wall with water a little, so that the mixture sticks to the surface better. After the applied layer, the wall is leveled with a construction spatula and left to dry completely.

Next stage - the plaster layer is applied over the first layer. The second layer will lie evenly, as the mixture is getting thicker.

Plaster application steps are the same as the previous one. The only difference is to leave the surface dry for at least a week.

After the wall is completely dry, the trowel works. During the week, until it dries, it should be periodically moistened with water.

After this, you can proceed to the next stage - the final one. The layer of the mixture is prepared very carefully and thoroughly mixed to prevent the ingress of grains and to avoid heterogeneity of the mixture. The surface of the wall should be smooth and even, and also not have cracks and bumps.

After the wall has dried, it will have a beautiful white color and will become even.

Features of work with concrete walls

Do not forget that when working with a concrete wall, each layer needs to be rubbed. This is necessary in order to keep the layer of plaster firmly.

So, the thickness of the second layer, which is also the main one, should not exceed five millimeters, if the wall is relatively flat.

If your walls have different differences, when applying the plaster you need to take this nuance into account and leave more time for drying each layer.
