There are two common ways to select the switch for the motor.

So, the first way is to calculate the total power of the devices that will be powered by this switch. We expect that the devices( TV, refrigerator, computer, washing machine, etc.) will be connected to this circuit of electric current, we add the power of all these devices and on the basis of this we calculate the current of the rosette group. As an example, 2kW + 600W + 2100W = 4700W.Now simply substitute the value in the conventional formula: I = W / U, where I - is the power, W - voltage and U - current in the network;I = 4700 divide by 220, so we get 21.36A.But do not forget that washing machines and some other devices have their motors, and they have a so-called starting current, which at start-up is much greater than the indicated capacity of the device. But manufacturers of automatic machines know this perfectly and so the switches have a current setting.

Safety shutdown device

It is not so difficult to choose an automatic machine, guided by the following rules:

  • The main characteristic for automata is the rated current, measured in Amperes. The range is from 6 to 100A.
  • A short-time current value at which the machine will not trip. It, in a simple way, jumps of a current to which the switch is sensitive. The shutdown devices are assigned to three values: "B", "C", "D".The lowest denomination is "B".
  • The descriptions of the switch must be reflected on the nameplate of the machine.
  • Switches are divided into phases.
  • Advised to select for everyday life several "C" nominal switches. One to put on the incoming current, the others separate from each other along the current flow and the connection of devices.

There are many types of motors with a 15 kW power rating, but they all have different characteristics. Let us consider examples of such engines.
