Immediately after finishing the repair work in the kitchen, the master comes up with a question concerning the filling of the room with functional and attractive furniture. Usually it is influenced by two criteria: ergonomics and affordable cost. This room has a rather limited space, while it requires a relatively large number of items of household appliances and furniture.

kitchen shelf. This problem can partly be solved by purchasing expensive suites that belong to a high class, but not every average family can afford to purchase such a plan. It is for this reason that the creation of furniture by the hands becomes more and more widespread. This is the best opportunity for a relatively small amount to obtain satisfying all requirements and individual planning preferences. Recently, for this purpose, kitchens made of plasterboard are becoming more popular.
What can I do from gypsum board?
Many people who decided to build items of kitchen furniture from plasterboard with their own hands, are interested in the question of what they are able to produce with the minimum amount of knowledge and necessary tools.
Important! No more or less important business can be carried out without a minimal understanding of the essence of the ongoing process. For this reason, when deciding to make a kitchen of gypsum board with your own hands, it is first worth familiarizing yourself with the main features of the material itself, as well as with the techniques of its qualitative processing.
The main question that excites every master is the strength of such structures, that is, whether they will be able to withstand the required load, and also whether furniture will fall apart during its operation. It is necessary to know that gypsum board is a strong building material, despite its relative fragility. If you perform a competent installation, the structures are able to withstand a serious load of 150 kg per meter or more.
In such a process as finishing the kitchen with plasterboard by hand, you can make the following pieces of furniture and construction:
- niches;
- shelves;
- countertops;
- open pedestals;
- bar counters;
- special seats for sitting with the simultaneous presence of built-in niches, which are designed for storing kitchen utensils.
As can be seen from all of the above, the elements of gypsum board can replace almost all pieces of furniture in the kitchen. Of course, it will be necessary to carry out relatively complex and voluminous work, but they quickly pay for themselves by a large number of advantages. Among them there are such factors as:
- It is possible to arrange all the free space organically enough, and make it as comfortable and functional as possible, without the simultaneous sensation that the kitchen is cluttered.
- You can create a large number of places to store numerous kitchen utensils.
- The total cost will be an order of magnitude lower than when trying to produce all the same processes, but with more expensive finished products.
Important! The main advantage of equipping the kitchen with items made of drywall is the ability to withstand a significant load. Shelves under the weight of objects and products laid on them do not break, do not crack under the weight of installed relatively small household appliances, the table top even after long-term operation will not bend under the hob mounted in it and a sink.
Features of the
drywall worktops The example of the independent manufacture of such a structure as a kitchen worktop made of gypsum board will be discussed in more detail below. Due to the fact that this is the most complex element of furniture, on the basis of the scheme it will be possible without any problems to perform any other design.
This product can be manufactured in several models. Among them, the most common are linear, U-shaped and L-shaped. On an example the most simple variant - the linear kitchen table-top will be considered.
To execute it, you will need to prepare the following tools and materials:
- guide profiles;
- sheets of plasterboard, the thickness of which is approximately 18 mm;
- fastening screws and drill, which is in every house;
- will require a small amount of ceramic tiles;
- adhesive for fixing it;
- spatula and special grout;
- marker, ruler and level.
Important! Before assembling the structure it is required to determine the height of its location, as well as the parameters of the width of the overall working surface. To do this, it is recommended to take into account the growth of people living in the apartment and their basic needs.
The process of manufacturing the countertop looks like this:
- On the walls opposite to each other, four marks must be made. These are the angles and the extreme points of the location of the future structure.
Important! It is necessary to constantly check the evenness with a special level.
- It is necessary to drop about 10 cm below the marks and make four more marks. These points will indicate where the guide profile is fastened.
- By means of fixing devices it is required to fix two profiles to the wall where the countertop will be fixed. One should be located slightly higher than the other. The step between the screws is 17-20 cm.
- Two other elements must be fixed with their ends to the wall, they will be the edge of the future piece of furniture.
- Between the top and bottom elements, approximately every 40 cm, it is required to install the pillars of the support from the profile.
- Between the top mounted elements that are adjacent to the wall surface and those that are installed on the edge, special cross connections with a distance of 40 cm should be fixed.
- The surface of the resulting structure, as well as its lateral side, is covered with plasterboard.
- After that, all the places where it is planned to mount the plate and the sink are marked, and then, on the given marks, a suitable hole size is cut out.
- All the rest of the free surface is finished with ceramic tiles.
- The joints between the tile elements must be sealed with a special grout, the quality of which will allow to withstand a fairly frequent washing process.
This method can be used to make all the basic furniture designs, and the kitchen with its own hands made of drywall will be executed quickly and efficiently.
Execution of the kitchen rack
In order to make a drywall shelving yourself, it is worthwhile to prepare the same list of tools that was mentioned above. The only thing that it will have to be supplemented with is scissors designed for working with metal.
Below is a detailed example of a rack that consists of shelves located on two racks throughout the height of the room with a simultaneous depth of 50 cm. Such a design can be equipped with doors, but this will be a more difficult option.
First of all, the marking for the racks is applied:
- in the corner, located between the floor and the wall, a mark is placed where the first post will be placed;
- from this label retreats approximately 50 cm, that is, its outer edge;
- from the first marked point vertically drawn line from the ceiling to the floor;
- from the line thus obtained should be retracted to a depth of half a meter. This is the horizontal part of the future rack;
- from the contour of the rack, located to the right deviates 1.5 meters and repeats all previous manipulations. As a result of these works, it is possible to obtain the contour of the second pillar.
After this, the profile is mounted on the established marks and attached to the surface of the wall using a drill. Then the total height of the future racks is measured and the element is cut off, depending on this value - two elements of the bearing structural profile. In this way, the outer racks will be received. They are inserted parallel to the wall surface into special grooves and are connected. As a result, two rectangular frames will be obtained, which are then covered with plasterboard.
Important! To ensure a higher strength, between the vertically placed posts it is necessary to arrange horizontal bridges. Install them better wherever the shelves will be.
In conclusion, it will be easy to cover the frame with plasterboard and you can finish the finishing. If you want to equip this structure with doors, you will need to install wooden bars on certain places and mount hinges on them.
As can be seen from all of the above, such a process and the solution of the question of how to make a gypsum cardboard kitchen, does not belong to the category of complex. If you have simple tools and basic skills, and follow the above schemes, you can quickly create high-quality furniture from plasterboard and equip it with a kitchen.
