Tools for work
First, prepare the tools and figure out what you might need when connecting the wall light. So:
- directly, the lamp itself;
- lamp( if not included);
- wires( if plugging in the socket - it's better to watch the lamp with the plug);
- electrical tape;
- screwdriver;
- nippers( cut and strip the wire);
- drill;
- self-tapping screws.
Preparing the wiring is some useful tips.
To hide the wiring from the luminaire, during the repair it is worthwhile to lay the wires inside the walls. If they consist of plasterboard - there is nothing easier, just lay them inside the box. If the walls are wooden - it is better to hide the wires in a special heat-resistant channel. This will protect the wood and prevent a fire in the event of an accident.
If the walls are concrete and covered with plaster, then repair the walls, preliminarily wall the walls with any available tool. Perforator, circle for cutting a stone together with a chisel and similar tools will do. In the received trough lay the wires and cover with plaster or cement mixture. In addition, it is possible to bring the wires to the skirting board, then stretch them along special grooves to the box. And you can install it in the screed of the filling floor or under the parquet.
Preparing the luminaire for wall mounting.
Further work should be carried out only after finishing the walls. To begin with - disassemble the lamp, leave only the base, which is attached to the wall. This will facilitate the work and protect the wall lamp from damage. Note where you are going to fix the lamp, for this, attach the base to the desired place on the wall and make marks on the wall along the bolt holes.
For convenience, a piece of plasticine or a double-sided adhesive tape can be attached to the lamp base. This will prevent the base from shifting during the markup. The resulting marks are banked( if you are dealing with a concrete wall) and drill sufficiently deep and wide holes with a drill. This is necessary to accidentally touch the lamp in the future, it did not break from the fastenings. In the holes, insert plastic plugs and screw the base of the lamp to the wall using screws.
Installation and connection of a wall light.
Disconnect power from the mains. Connect the padded wires to the common network, and on the other output to - to the luminaire terminals. In this case, it is necessary to observe the polarity and the correct sequence: grounding to the terminal grounding in the junction box, and only after - the insulated wires to the luminaire. Check that there is no exposed wire anywhere.
Assemble the other elements of the wall lamp, screw the lamp into its socket. Check that the cover of the box in which the luminaire wiring was connected was closed. Congratulations, the installation and connection of the wall light have been completed! Recheck the correct connections and secure the mounting.
