How to decode the marking?
So, the decoding of the ABBbShB cable marking is as follows:
- A - aluminum conductors;
- B - PVC insulation( heat-resistant plastic);
- B - armored, and the protection is represented by two steel bands;
- b - the protective cushion between the armor and current-carrying veins is absent;
- Шв - outer shell of extruded hose, the material of which is polyvinyl chloride.
As you can see, the protective cover is quite reliable, which allows to lay a line without additional protection from rodents and mechanical damages.
Design features
The ABBbShB cable structure is represented by the following elements:
Where:
- A conductor made of aluminum( there may be 1 to 5 of them).The core can be either single-wire or multiwire.
- Insulation layer of PVC plastic. As can be seen in the picture, the insulation is color-coded, according to GOST standards.
- Additional belt insulation represented by PVC tape.
- Armor layer of two steel bands.
- Protective cover made of bitumen( is used if the cross-section is more than 6 mm2).
- Layer of electrically insulating polyethylene terephthalate film( also applies if the diameter is more than 6 mm2).
- Outer sheath of AVBbShV power cable from PVC hose.
Operating conditions for
Another, not less important point, which should be discussed in more detail. To ensure that the conductor has served you for more than a year( and as the manufacturer says, this figure can reach 30 years), we strongly recommend that you familiarize yourself with the following operating conditions of the AVBbShV cable:
- operating temperature -50 to +50 ° C;
- maximum permissible temperature of heating of current-carrying conductors is not more than 70оС;
- the maximum temperature of the conductors in case of a short circuit is 160 ° C( for a duration not exceeding 5 seconds);
- temperature of conducting electrical works is not lower than -15 ° C;
- frequency of alternating current 50 Hz;
- rated voltage of 660 V and 1000 V;
- cable insulation AVBbShv does not spread combustion in single laying( according to IEC 60332-1);
- the service life of the product is 30 years, and the warranty period is 5 years;
- the duration of operation in emergency mode is not more than 8 hours per day, while for the whole service life the time should not exceed 1000 hours.
As you can see, the technical characteristics of AVBbShV cable have no special restrictions on the temperature regime, therefore it can be used without any problems both for industrial and household purposes.
For more details please refer to the description of the characteristics( cross-section, outer diameter and mass) in the table:
Scope of application
Well, one of the most interesting questions: where is this type of electrical cable used.
According to the standards, the scope of AVBbShv is as follows:
- climate: tropical, dry, temperate;
- explosion and fire hazardous areas;
- zone of high humidity - collector, tunnel, shaft, etc., and the route can be both horizontal and inclined;
- in the air if there is a risk of mechanical damage to the power line;
- in the ground, only if the cable is not subjected to tensile forces during operation.
As you can see, the scope of AVBbShv is quite extensive and has no significant limitations. We draw your attention to a very important nuance: if the label contains the letter "T"( tropical), then the product has an increased resistance to mold damage.
As for household use, the AVBbShv power cable has proved very useful for underground laying of a line to a house( as shown in the photo).Despite the fact that the veins of the product are aluminum( they are trying not to use them because of their fragility), the conductor is popular when installing electrical wiring in the house and at the dacha. High demand is associated with low cost of the product. Unlike the more reliable copper analogue - VBbShv, aluminum is 3-4 times cheaper, which saves a decent amount of money.
If you decide to use this version of the cable in your own wiring, be sure to calculate the cross section of the cable in terms of power and current, so that the wires can withstand current loads from electrical appliances.
How not to become a victim of a fake?
So, the last of the items on which I would like to dwell in more detail is the choice of a quality manufacturer of armored cable type ABBbShv. To date, there are many companies involved in the manufacture of electrical products, including current conductors. The problem is that most of them save on material, which affects such indicators as the actual size of veins and the quality of materials.
For example, if you calculate a cable with a minimum cross-section of 16 mm2, then it's not a fact that you buy a product with this value. In most cases, the diameter of the veins is less by 10-15%, which negatively affects the permissible current loads. As a result, after wiring, there may be a wiring failure, a short circuit and, as a result, labor-intensive repairs.
To avoid this, we recommend giving preference to high-quality AVBbShV cable manufacturers, who are recommended on many forums and who, in turn, have a lot of positive feedback.
Among these manufacturers it should be noted:
- Kolchuginsky plant
- Amur cable plant
- Power cable
- Sevkabel
- Pskovkabel
In addition, we recommend you to check the goods yourself before purchase, using one of the methods for determining the diameter of the cores. If the values correspond and the appearance of the cable is not in doubt, you can safely buy it.
That's all I wanted to tell you about the terms of use, manufacturers and technical specifications of the AVBbShV cable. We hope that the information was interesting and useful for you. If you have any questions, ask them our experts in the category of "Q & A"!
