Previously, in order to update the interior, you had to buy wallpaper of the color and shade that the manufacturer offered. Today you can buy special canvases, which can later be painted in any desired color. The interior of any room thanks to this will play with new bright colors. Paint for wallpapering

For each type of wallpaper, a certain type of paint is selected. It differs both in quality characteristics and in composition. As is known, there are several types of canvases for painting, among them:

• Non-woven.
• Wall-papers.
• Paper wallpaper.

For each of them you should use your paint and varnish material. Typically, manufacturers produce different types of paints for painting wallpapers, the colors and composition of which are suitable for painting this or that type of cloth.

Consider the main types of material:

• Acrylic paint. The most common kind. This is a paint for painting non-woven wallpaper. She is not afraid of moisture and ultraviolet radiation. Therefore, wallpaper, painted with such a mixture, almost do not burn out. Usually it is applied to the outer surface of the canvas. After painting, all excess material should be removed. This type of paint can be applied directly and on the wall before wallpapering. After that, transparent wallpaper on a non-woven base is glued to the wall. After the material dries, thanks to the transparent structure, the color of the paint will shine through the canvas, so that the wallpaper will get a soft and even shade. If you want to simplify cleaning as much as possible in the room, you should give preference to water-resistant paints, due to which the wallpaper, painted with such a mixture, can be washed with a damp sponge.
• Painting wallpaper with water-based paint. Such mixtures have a rich palette of color shades. Suitable for painting fiberglass wallpaper. In this case, a roller with a soft pile is used to apply the material to the webs. It is worth noting that this kind of paint and varnish mixtures is washed off with water. This should be taken into account during cleaning.
• Painting wallpaper with latex paint. These mixtures are still called water-dispersion. They are quite environmentally friendly and safe. However, it is worth remembering that after the opening of the package, such a paint quickly thickens, so it must be applied immediately to the canvas. Wallpaper, painted with a mixture of this type, will dry no earlier than 2-3 days.
• Alkyd paints. They are used for painting fiberglass. On the surface of the canvas formed a fairly dense film, which protects the wallpaper from the effects of moisture. Therefore, they can be further washed with any detergent. However, it is worth mentioning some drawbacks of this type of mixture. They do not let in air, that is, they "do not breathe", but also contain some toxic substances in their composition.

Tips for choosing a mixture

Above we considered what types of paints there are. Now let's talk more about some of the features of their choice:

1. For wallpaper on a non-woven basis, it is better to use any waterproof paint. In the production of such wallpaper, high-quality cellulose is used, which is processed according to special methods.
2. It is recommended to use latex paints for paintings on vinyl basis. These wallpapers can similarly be painted both from the inside and from the outside.
3. For wallpaper on a paper basis, absolutely any paint, acrylic and water based paints will do. The mixture in this case, to avoid the appearance of streaks, is applied by a roller with a soft pile.
4. Liquid wallpaper can not be painted. However, they can be given an additional saturated shade by mixing the components of the material itself with any type of paint. You can also apply a layer of paint directly to the wall, where then a decorative mixture of liquid wallpaper will be applied. In such cases, oil compositions or nitro-enamel are used.

Many people are interested in the question - what is the consumption of paint when painting the wallpaper? So, on average for staining 1 square.m. of the surface will require about 230 grams of the mixture. More precisely, the calculation can be made if you take into account the recommendations for the consumption of paint, indicated on the packaging of the product.

Let's take a closer look at the color palette of colors. Thus, water-based mixtures generally have different shades of color, and dispersion paints are produced mostly pure white. In order to obtain the desired color, it is necessary to pin them. Thus, you can get absolutely any shade, for example, "for gold," "for silver," "for bronze," etc. Most often, tinting is required when painting old wallpaper with paint.

There are several ways to paint the right shade:

1. Home tint. In this case, you should buy a special coloring pigment in the building materials store. It mixes with the paint. The result is a paint of the right color. However, there are several nuances. Thus, the color of the mixture before and after drying may vary significantly. In addition, if the paint is bred in several portions, it will be difficult to get the same shade in each of them.
2. Tinting with special software. In this case, you will need to use a special tinting machine. Thanks to this method, you can get the same shade of paint in all banks.

The process of painting the wallpaper

For this we need the following tools:

1. Roller with soft pile.
2. Capacity for paint dilution.
3. Brush 60-70 mm.
4. Paper scotch.
5. You can use a spray gun.

Tip! It is important to paint the wallpaper to choose the correct not only paint, but also a tool for its application. Thus, it is recommended to use a roller with a long or medium pile. Long villi will be able to paint well any texture of wallpaper, even with ornamentation. In no case do not purchase for coloring ordinary rollers based on foam rubber. They greatly reduce the quality of surface painting. To paint hard-to-reach places and corners it is recommended to purchase brushes.

Work order:

1. The first stage is the preparation of the surface. So, it is necessary to lay floors, cover window sills, furniture, radiators with a film. The surface should be cleaned from dust.
2. Plinths are pasted with paper tape. Under it, the paint does not become dirty when staining. When the mixture dries, remove the adhesive tape.
3. Recall that it is important to choose the right paint for painting canvases, depending on what kind of wallpaper is pasted on the wall. Next, dilute the mixture as indicated on the package. Sometimes manufacturers recommend adding water to the paint, but not more than 8-10%.In this case, the paint is then mixed well with a mixer to obtain a good uniform color, without lumps and clots.
4. The color of the surface passes in accordance with all recommendations from the manufacturer, indicated on the product packaging. It is important to remember that low-quality cheap mixtures should be applied in 2-3 layers. Thus, a stable and monochromatic color is obtained. Before applying the second and third layer, you need to wait until the first one dries well. Qualitative expensive mixtures can be applied in one layer.
5. Initially, paint the lower and upper parts of the walls with a brush. Take care that the brush strokes do not overlap, as in this case we can not get a uniform shade of the surface. In addition, it is important that the paint does not accumulate on the joints of the wallpaper, otherwise in these areas the color will be much darker.
6. Next, paint the surface with a roller. Movements should be made in one direction. Then, hard-to-reach places are painted with a brush, for example, zones around the outlet or doorways.
7. Then you need to change the roller or just swap it for a new one. The tool is wetted in water. This should be done in order to crumble the pile, which is not attached tightly. Then roll the roller into the container with the paint and roll it well until it is completely impregnated with the color mixture.
8. Next, paint the wall, on which the wallpaper is glued, with the second layer. It is important to achieve uniform coloration of the surface. Note that the second coat of paint is applied only after the first one has dried completely.
9. Apply the dye composition to the wall, pasted wallpaper, you can vertical even stripes from floor to ceiling. It is important that these bands are strictly parallel. The width of each can be 650-750 mm. Stain it with fast and accurate movements.
10. Next, we remove the excess paint. We filter the roller through a kapron stocking and rinse it. That's all, painting the wallpaper can be considered complete.

Pay attention when working on some points:

1. In order to give the interior a special highlight, the painting of the wallpaper with pearlescent paint is used. Such a mixture can be painted both the entire wall and a separate zone.
2. For structural wallpaper, a dispersion mixture is suitable. The coloring of these canvases occurs with a wide roller. The mixture is rolled over the surface of the wall. In order to emphasize the structure of the wallpaper, a structural roller with a pile of medium length is used.
3. To get an interesting shade of non-woven wallpaper, try to paint them in two layers. And the second layer paint with a different shade.
4. As mentioned above, if you want to get an unusual shade of wallpaper on a non-woven base, then the paint must be applied to their inner side or to the wall. As a result, you can get a stable, even shade.
