Electric tile cutting machine - what is it?

In this article we will dwell in detail on the above mentioned points, without focusing on the processing technology itself, since there are a lot of video lessons on how electric tiles work, and all of them contain the necessary information. We also note that using an electric tile cutter, the practice of working with it is absolutely not necessary, and it is enough to follow the instructions rigorously for high-quality work.

Tile cutter is a device for changing the geometric parameters of various types of ceramic tiles, glass and stone. This procedure can be performed in various ways. For example, a sufficiently deep risk is applied, which then breaks the material. In the second case, the sawing is complete, and in the third case, small pieces are chipped off from its edge.

How exactly the processing will be performed depends on the selected device, which, by the way, will determine the speed of cutting, its quality, and in general the possibility of processing a particular type of material.

Electric tile cutter: practice with other tools is a useful aid

Existing types of tile cutters allow performing the following operations:

  • bringing the workpiece to the desired dimensions;
  • hole formation;
  • direct and figured processing;
  • creation of depressions;
  • cuts at an angle of 45 degrees.

Without these features of such a tool, it would be extremely difficult to lay the lining around pipes, vents, switches and sockets, as well as in the corners of the room - both internal and protruding. However, not every device is so universal that it has the ability to perform all of the listed functions.

Mechanical tile cutters do not require power sources, and all work is carried out by the muscular effort of a person. They, as a rule, can process material up to 15 mm thick. Such adaptations consist of a table, a lever, a carriage, a cutting roller and a presser foot. If they are equipped with a circular cutter, they can make holes for switches, pipes, etc.

Hand-held tile cutters are of two types. The first looks like a nail clipper and serves for figured processing and getting depressions in a blank up to 8 mm thick. The second is made in the form of a separate roller and is intended for both straight and curly cuts.

Electric tile cutting machine professional and not only what to choose?

And finally, we are interested in electric machines. We will discuss immediately that devices designed to work with blanks over 100 mm thick are classified as electric professional tile cutters and are not considered in this article.

All other equipment of this class is designed for processing material with a thickness of more than 15 mm. They are able to cut at an angle of 45 degrees, bring the dimensions to the desired condition. Due to the fact that the workpiece is cut through the entire thickness, the cut is obtained with rounded edges and the marriage is completely eliminated.

Compared with previous types of tile cutters, the speed of production is significantly increased. Due to the high speed of rotation of the saw head with the diamond disc, the cutting tool is overheated, and a special liquid is used to cool it.

The electric water chiller is available in two versions: with the engine in the top position( rail) and with the lower one. In the first case, the arrangement of the engine guarantees a more convenient and precise cutting, and the machine of the second type allows working with blanks of any size. To summarize, it can be stated that the electric machine is indispensable for laying tiles with a thickness of more than 15 mm, and for working with a material smaller than this thickness, a mechanical machine is more acceptable.
