Measurement of the diameter of the sewer pipe
Recently, the diameter of sanitary pipes began to be measured in a metric system familiar to any person - millimeters. Before that, the calculation was in inches. Although, there are some disadvantages in this transition, namely, the number of ¾ remember and say much easier than a hundredth of a millimeter after the decimal point.
Each product of this type has two diameters - outer( dn) and internal( dв), the difference between them being the thickness of the product wall.
The pipe wall thickness and diameter are the main geometric parameters of the pipeline from any material, therefore these parameters are especially important for the design of the sewage system. The closer the pipeline is to the drain manifold, the larger the diameter. So, for example, if you look more globally, then this indicator can be equal to 4 m.for pipes located at the entrance to the central sedimentation tanks of large cities. As a rule, it is a reinforced concrete pipeline that manages both sewage and storm sewage.
Calculations of all parameters of the pipeline for the sewage system must be carried out by a specialist without fail. Moreover, an incorrectly selected pipeline with a large size can lead to stagnant processes, and with a small one - to congestion and leakage.
Let's figure out which pipe diameter for the sewage system will work in one way or another.
For standard toilets, d = 100mm is suitable, and for shells and bathroom this parameter is half the size. The thing is that when the toilet flushes off, the volumetric mass of water comes in, with the possible presence of solid elements. If the above value is reduced, a blockage is likely at the first washout. The bathroom has a small drain, moreover with an installed partition, therefore it is not advisable to put a pipeline with a large size.

For the design of sewer networks use plastic sewer pipes whose diameter varies from 40 to 300mm.
There are special regulatory documents in which there are tables with a description of the parameters of the pipes. Relying on these values, you will be able to install a water pipe of any complexity and configuration.
When calculating, you need to take into account: wall thickness, dv and dn, the material of which the product is made and its length.
The minimum length of sewer pipes is 1 m. Pipeline is released with this step up to six meters.
To summarize, let's consider the main diameters of a sewage pipe:
- a sewage pipe of 75 mm( maximum value) suitable for bathtubs, sinks and urinals;
- pipeline with d = 100mm is used for horizontal drainage;
- pipelines with d = 200mm are used as risers;
- pipeline with d = 300mm and more is used for yard sewerage, supplied to the collector.
In order to better understand all of the above figures, consider an example. Let the room has two toilet bowls. If to follow the logic according to which in the sewer chain the last pipe should be a large diameter, then it seems quite logical to establish for the second toilet a pipe with d = 200mm. However, this is an erroneous opinion. The throughput of a sewage pipe with this size will be 4 times stronger than that of a common drain. This will entail incorrect hydrodynamics and the possible occurrence of vibrations.
Take into account the fact that the internal diameter of the cast iron pipes is much smaller than that of plastic pipes with the same dn, and this must also be taken into account in the calculation.
Pipeline with a size of 200mm is perfect for horizontal sewerage, uniting several apartments. When their number exceeds 5, you can use a pipeline with d = 300mm, but no more.
For non-standard sizes of connecting pipelines use special fittings and various mounting accessories that are available in every construction shop.
