Idea # 1 - Upgrade the halogen light bulb

The easiest way is to make the LED lamp from a burnt halogen bulb with the cap type - GU4. In this case, you will need the following materials and tools:

• LEDs. Choose their number depending on how bright the LED lighting should be. Immediately draw your attention to the fact that more than 22 diodes should not be chosen( this will complicate the process of assembly and also make the light bulb too bright).
• Super-glue( suitable and conventional, but it will be longer to solidify, which will not allow the LED lamp to be made quickly).
• A small piece of copper wire.
• Resistors. Their number and power will be calculated by the online calculator.
• A small piece of sheet aluminum( an alternative is an ordinary can of beer or a sparkling beverage).
• Access to the Internet. You will need to open a special online calculator for calculating the LED lamp circuit.
• Hammer, soldering iron and punch.

Having prepared all the materials you can go directly to the assembly of the diode lamp. Instructions for creating a homemade light source, we provide step by step, with photo examples of each stage, so that you clearly see the installation process.

So, to make a 12-volt LED lamp, you need to perform the following:

1. Remove the top glass from the old halogen bulb and the white putty around the pin socket( as shown in the photo below).For this, it is best to use a screwdriver.
2. Turn the lamp upside down and gently pry the pins out of the seat with a hammer. The old halogen bulb should fall out.
3. According to the number of LEDs you choose, design a scheme for their location, on the basis of which make a paper stencil. You can use the existing preform and print out one of the ready-made schemes that are provided in the picture:
4. Glue the stencil to the aluminum sheet with super glue, cut out the sheet in the shape of the stencil, and then make a hole with the punch through the LEDs.
5. Generate on the internet a drawing of the assembly of the LED lamp for your conditions. In our case, to create a LED bulb at home from 22 diodes, you need to collect the following diagram:
6. Place the aluminum disk on a comfortable stand and insert the LEDs into the seats as shown in the photo. To simplify the soldering process, bend the cathode leg of one diode to the anode leg of the other.
7. Carefully glue all the LEDs, making them a single design. Important point - the glue should not get on the legs of the diodes, tk.when soldering, extremely unpleasant smoke will be released.
8. When the glue is solid, proceed to solder the legs. By the way, for this we recommend that you make a soldering iron by yourself, which also does not take much time. According to the scheme, solder the LED diodes of the lamp, leaving only one plus leg and one minus plug for power connection. The knife "-" is recommended to be cut in half so that in the future not to confuse the polarity of the contacts of the self-made LED light bulb.
9. According to the scheme solder the resistors to negative contacts. As a result, according to our example should be 6 plus terminals and 6 minus ones( with resistors).
10. Solder the resistors according to the generated circuit.
11. To the formed two contacts solder on the same piece of copper wire, which as a result will make the pin of the LED lamp at home. By analogy with the previous advice, make one foot for a while at a shorter time( minus) so that you do not confuse anything and connect correctly.
12. To prevent a short circuit in the future, carefully glue the space between the withdrawn legs.
13. Perform the final assembly of the LED light bulb: place the disc on the reflector and carefully glue it.
14. Marker on the body of the assembled LED lamp where "+" and where "-", also indicate that the homemade light source is designed to connect to the power supply of 12 volts, and not 220.
15. Carry out a check of the collected homemade. To do this, connect the LED light bulb to the car battery or the 220/12 Volt power supply.

Idea number 2 - "Economy" in the course!

The second, no less interesting idea is to assemble a light bulb from an energy saving lamp. There is also no particularly serious work and even a very experienced electrician can handle the assembly. To begin with, you must prepare the following materials and tools for building a LED lamp with your own hands:

1. Out of order "housekeeper."
2. Piece of fiberglass.
3. According to the generated scheme( about it we said above) the constituent elements: resistors, capacitor, LEDs. In our example, the scheme will be as follows:
4. Drill for drilling glass-cloth. In this case, it is better to make a mini drill with your own hands, which can be conveniently made holes.
5. Soldering iron.
6. Table salt, copper vitriol and nail polish.

Having prepared all the materials, you can proceed to assembly. This manual is more creative, so if you decide to make a diode bulb from a burnt housekeeper, carefully see the photo examples.

Stages of work:

1. Cut out a circle with a diameter of 3 cm in diameter.
2. Using a varnish, draw the tracks on the board according to this example:
3. Make a solution of 1 tablespoon of copper sulfate and 2 table spoons of table salt. All this stir in warm water.
4. When the varnish freezes, for a day, lower the board into the solution. As a result, only the copper tracks that you have protected with varnish will remain, the rest of the copper will disappear during the reaction.
5. Remove acetone with the remaining lacquer from the fiberglass and clean the clean tracks.
6. According to the scheme, make a mini drill hole.
7. Solder all elements of the self-made driver.
8. Carefully disassemble the old energy-saving lamp and remove everything from it except the wires coming from the base.
9. Fasten your board variant with LEDs, solder the wires and seal. If you did everything correctly, the result should be the same as in the photo below.

This manual can easily make an LED lamp from a fluorescent or halogen light bulb!

Idea 3 - LED tape as a basis for

If you do not have a good knowledge of soldering iron and at the same time have no idea how to assemble a circuit on a fiberglass, it is better to make an LED lamp with your own hands from an LED ribbon. In this case, instead of the driver, you can use a power supply that converts 220 volts into a network of 12. The only major drawback of this method is the large size of the power supply, so this option is recommended if you decided to make LED lighting in a room with spotlights. You can try to collect all the light bulbs for them with your own hands and connect to a single power unit that will hide without problems in the ceiling.

So, all you need to do is:

1. Prepare the frame of the future lamp. To do this, cut a small piece of plastic pipe.
2. On each side of the pipe, glue a small piece of LED tape. Cut the LED tape only in certain places, which are specified by the manufacturer( usually every 3-4 diode).
3. Connect all the segments in a parallel circuit using a soldering iron, then solder each wire bundle along a piece of copper wire( for ease of connection to the power supply).If you decide to install a self-made diode bulb in an old energy-saving lamp, simply solder the leads from the tape to the cap wires by analogy with the instructions above.

That's the whole instruction for assembling the LED lamp from the tape. As you can see, everything is much simpler than even making a light bulb for the generated circuit.
