Flute brush and its meaning in painting works

Varieties and scope of application

Brushes differ by type of bristles, material, shape and other parameters. In order to better understand the features and the scope of each of them, let's take a closer look.

  • Flying. They are produced with a diameter of 60-65 millimeters and a hair length of 100 millimeters. Good bristles straighten when bending hair. There are two types: weight, which require knitting, and piece - a brush in the cartridge with a handle.
  • Whitewashing. They have a width of 200 millimeters, a thickness of 45-60 millimeters and a hair length of 100 millimeters. They are twice as productive as the flywheels and allow cleaner painting.
  • Malkowitz. Often used for whitewash. The shape is round and rectangular. Work with this brush from the floor or the ladder, it is for glutinous and casein works.
  • Brush Flutes. It is flat with various widths( 25, 60, 62, 76, 100 millimeters).Made from badger hair or quality bristles. The main purpose - smoothing out fresh paint, that is, getting rid of marks after applying a fly brush.

All kinds of brushes can be used not only for their intended purpose. So, flutes are often used for applying paint, as well as maklovitsa.

Preparing for operation

Dry hair and too stiff bristles on the tassels leave strong bands during work that make the painting less effective. To avoid this, we advise you to carefully prepare the tools for work. It is recommended to lower the new brushes in water for one hour, which promotes softening, swelling, increasing in volume and stronger fixation. Softened bristles and hair put a layer of paint smoothly and cleanly.

Before using oil paints, the wetted brushes must be dried very carefully. However, all these actions do not guarantee that in the process of work there will be no strips at all, because separately protruding hairs will not disappear anywhere. In order to solve this problem, we advise you to trim the stubble by working 10 minutes on a brick or concrete, moistening the brush beforehand in the water.

Important! To align the brush with burning is harmful for it, because the most valuable parts of the bristle are burned - the flags.

Brush care

If the brush is not purchased for a one-off operation, then it should be put in order after work. The main thing that is worth remembering, after painting, put the instrument in water is prohibited, because it helps to coagulate the paint. After such a procedure, it can be safely thrown out the next day.

If the plans include further use of the brush, then follow certain recommendations. First, it is necessary to squeeze the bristles well on the edge of the can. Secondly, white spirit is poured into the tank( a special solvent for paint products), and a brush is rinsed in it until the traces of the paint disappear. Then the procedure is repeated, but with a clean solution.

After the procedure, the brush will be in perfect condition and ready for reuse. If you were working with bituminous varnish, then at the end it is recommended to wash the brush twice with gasoline.

It happens that after working with paint there is no possibility to wash the brush. In this case, it can be preserved for several days. To do this, take a rag, scotch tape, plastic bag and a little solvent. The cloth is wetted in a solvent and wrapped around the pile. Then the paint flute brush lies in a bag and wraps with an adhesive tape.

Tip! Putting such a package in cold water, the brush can be stored for three weeks.
