To filter wells, cesspools and drainage pits, as well as various septic tanks could serve as long as possible, it is customary to either use ready-made plastic containers or reinforce the walls of their wells with concrete rings. To those, there is a very inexpensive and easy-to-implement way of creating a cesspool with the help of old car tires. However, it must be borne in mind that such a sewerage element will cope with the maintenance of only a couple of people. Another option, where such a cesspit can in general be considered an ideal solution, is the local sewage system in the suburban area. And with a neat execution, the pit of tires is quite capable of successfully coping with the responsibilities assigned to it for more than one year.
Selection of a place for placing a cesspool.
Since the design of the pit does not provide for complete tightness, the main way to utilize wastewater will be infiltration into the ground. When the surface of the walls and the bottom of the pit is silted, it will be necessary to resort to the services of sewage machines for pumping waste. Meanwhile, with properly organized and effective drainage, this problem will not occur very often.
When choosing a site for the future cesspool, it is necessary to take into account its removal from the water well or well. It is best that this distance does not become less than 25 meters. In addition, if the house has a deep foundation, then this factor should also be taken into account, since the distance between the pit and such a foundation should not be less than 5 meters. The diameter of the well will depend on the size of the used tires.
Excavation
It is quite possible to dig an excavation of a suitable diameter and depth for the construction of such a pit, manually, without resorting to expensive and not always available equipment. From tools with this version of the organization of work, only a couple of shovels will be needed, both of which must be attached to handles of at least 2.5 meters in length so that it will be convenient to work when the well becomes deep enough. The bayonet shovel is suitable for loosening the soil, and it is convenient to scoop and remove the earth from the excavation.
Having prepared the tools, it is possible to start excavation, which consists in the following:
- - on the ground a shallow outline of the well contour is indicated, for which it is enough to put one of the tires and circle it around a circle with some peg. When performing this operation, it is desirable to make a stock of 5 cm, which can easily be lowered into the tire in the pit;
- - directly excavating the pit. At this stage, the vertical walls are cut with a bayonet shovel and the central part of the excavation is loosened. The loosened soil is then removed with a shovel. It is possible that as the pit deepens, it will make sense to descend into it. In this case, it will be convenient to use shovels with as short cuttings as possible, but at the same time it will be necessary to monitor the condition of the pit walls so that they do not fall off inside.
- - at least several times during the entire digging cycle it is necessary to check the diameter of the resulting excavation. It is done by control lowering into the pit and fitting in place of one of the tires.
Stacking of prepared tires in the
cesspool Before starting to lay the tires directly, a cushion cushion with a thickness of about 30 cm should be covered at the bottom of the pit. This will become a precaution against siltation of the bottom. The rim of each of the lowered tires from the underside should preferably be cut with an electric jigsaw, this will prevent the accumulation of sewage in them. In the place where the sewer pipe will be installed, it will also be necessary to cut a round hole of the same diameter with the same electric jigsaw. If the jig saw does not cope with a strong cord, then you can use a hand hacksaw with a cloth for working on metal.
Especially reliable hydrolysis for such a cesspool of tires is to organize a lot of sense, but it will not be superfluous to wrap them with ruberoid or a strip of thick polyethylene.
The number of tires should be such that the most recent one is slightly raised above ground level. This will avoid overfilling with thawed melt or rainwater. All the gaps between the tires themselves and between them and the walls are filled with small gravel.
Any suitable object made of wood or plastic can be used as a lid for such a well. For example, you can use an unnecessary hood for the wheel, which will provide excellent ventilation and simplify control over the degree of filling the cesspool.
