Plywood floor on the lag with your own hands

Floor leveling for subsequent coating requires accuracy and the same level of the entire surface to be obtained. Filling a new screed in the room is not always convenient and quite expensive. An alternative option is the floor of plywood, which will be installed on the beams, attached to the old screed. The thickness and width of the log should be about 5 cm and the length should be at least 2 m.

Mounting the log

To make the floor of the plywood lined with your own hands, really flat, it is necessary to conduct the installation of the first bar, which is set by the level. The work should be done after the finishing works of the walls and ceiling.

The lag is mounted not on the screed, but on the laid scraps of the board or timber. Such a system makes it possible to even even a very uneven surface with sharp differences or the presence of depressions or protrusions.

The subsequent logs are aligned with the previous element. This will maintain a preset level throughout the room. Together with the planks to be laid, a ruberoid should be used. Support elements made of wood can change shape with increasing humidity or temperature change, so additional layers will allow to save the received level of the surface and protect it from distortion.

To ensure the correct leveling of the floor with plywood, it is necessary to place the logs at a distance of about 50 cm. The distance from the walls should be small and be about 3 cm. The height of the placement is chosen individually, but with fastening it is necessary to take into account both the thickness of the beams and the thickness of the supporting elements.

Therefore, it is necessary to use dowels, at least 3-4 cm more than the sum of these indicators. And for the installation of plywood sheets it is worth buying self-tapping screws 2-3 cm thicker than the thickness of the topcoat to be purchased.

Plywood laying

Plywood is laid on the floor only after its preparation. Electric jigsaws cut out sections for pipes, corner projections of walls. The thickness of the sheets to be purchased must be at least 3 cm, since the resulting coating should not bend under the weight of a person and the furniture installed in the room.

The plywood must be positioned in such a way that the joints of the sheets are approximately at the middle of the log. This will allow the work to be carried out correctly and ensure the reliability of the entire structure.

A roofing material is placed between lags and plywood sheets. This will avoid the "course" of the coating and its deformation during subsequent operation.

The location of the plywood relative to the log must be transverse. Each sheet is attached not only along the edges, but also along the entire length of the support. It is desirable to avoid fixation in those areas where people will walk.

Precautions will help to avoid damage to the floor and ensure its continued safety. Detailed photos on the installation of the construction will allow you to see the process of assembling the plywood floor and correct fixing of the sheets.

Understand how to make the floor of plywood not only smooth, but also durable, will help clarify the layout of the sheets. The most correct is considered the displacement of pieces: it is not necessary to carry out installation with a single connection line for all adjacent pairs of plywood. This can lead to a skewed design. To get acquainted with the subtleties of the work will help a video describing the entire process of creating a quality and durable floor of plywood. And after performing the correct installation, you can begin to finish the aligned surface with any floor covering.
