The scheme of heating a two-story house - we will consider the features of the example

The design of the heating system in modern homes must be done at the design stage of the house itself. So you can understand what materials and in what quantities you need. In addition, it will help quickly find flaws and fix them. It is important to choose the best variant of the heating system, assessing its material capabilities, as well as the availability of resources for maintaining the heating system( fuel quantity and quality, climatic conditions and the like). The most popular now is the option of water heating, it is suitable for multi-storey buildings in the best way. Consider standard building heating water circuit with two floors. It provides for manual temperature control in each individual room of the house. The system is installed in a standard way: with the horizontal arrangement of two pipes, in which the radiators are connected from the side.

For a heating system, it is better to use metal-plastic pipes, because of their strength and durability. But you can use polypropylene pipes, which will also be a very effective solution. Metal-plastic pipes do not require special installation skills, besides, there is almost no blockage or sticking of dirt inside them. Polypropylene pipes can be assembled on their own, they are light and reliable.

At the design stage of the system, the required number of angular, diverting and connecting units of the system is calculated, the number and locations of cranes and plugs are marked. An analysis is made of the necessary number of radiators and the number of sections in each of them, which will further determine the amount of heat given off by the radiator. For each heating radiator, fixing brackets are installed, in an amount determined by the dimensions of the radiator.

There is a designation on the diagram where it is necessary to install a heating boiler, expansion tank, and a pump in the system. A heating boiler can run on different types of fuel, but the most popular are gas, solid fuel or electricity. In new homes and cottages, solid fuels are almost not used due to their low ecological compatibility.

If the boiler is small, you can install it directly in one of the rooms in the house, the storage room, for example, or in the master's workshop. In this case, the boiler is hung on the wall, so as not to waste space. It is not recommended to put the boiler in bedrooms or rooms such as a library or an office. This is due to the fact that the boiler can generate noise while working, albeit quietly. Large boilers should be placed in a separate room or even in a separate building.

Example of placing a tank in the house

Tank location: bottom or top.

If your house has a basement and an attic space, then you can make a heating system with a lower wiring of the pipes or the lower one at your own discretion.

  • If the wiring is upper, the boiler is placed in the attic and from there the hot water is supplied through the riser to all radiators.
  • If you chose the lower wiring, the tank is installed in the basement and from there, using a pump, the heated water diverges through the pipes.

Which option would you not choose, the expansion tank is always installed in the highest place of the house, that is, in the attic. With a heating boiler with a lower wiring, a riser connects it.

Heating system with one or two pipes

A single pipe heating system is a ring. The water from the boiler goes first to one floor, then comes back to the tank through the other. As a result, on one floor the temperature is higher, on the other lower. To compensate for this phenomenon, on the lower floors( where usually water is not so hot) put radiators of a larger size than on the upper ones. In addition, in a single pipe system, it is not possible to disable one particular heater. You must disconnect the entire system.

A system with two pipes is more difficult to install, but it has almost no flaws. In this system, two pipes are provided: hot and cold. Entering the radiator, the hot water cools down and pours out into the cold pipe. In this case, you can block one of the radiators, this does not affect the work of others.
