The history of the appearance of cardboard boxes dates back to the beginning of the 18th century. Boxes served for different purposes, differed in both size and shape. Round boxes are suitable not only for gift wrapping or storage of women's hats. In them, you can store a thousand different trifles, and the appearance of such boxes will allow them to be kept in open places. And yet round boxes are most often used to wrap a gift. This form of packaging is more festive and attractive, but for storage it is of little use.
We make a round cardboard box
First we need to decide what the box is for. If it's just that, for anything, this is one thing, but if it's another to put in it a particular thing. First you need to decide on the size of the future box. If you need a certain size, it will be determined by a certain size of the bottom.
First, tight cardboard for the bottom of the box and lid. In general, the density of cardboard for boxes is recommended not less than 180-250 g / m2.On the bottom and the lid should take a more dense cardboard than on the side surface. On the sheets of cardboard two circles are marked. This will be the bottom with the lid of the box. The workpieces are cut. To do this, use an ordinary school compass. The diameter of the lid is made to be larger than the diameter of the lid. All cut-out parts of the box must be of an ideal shape, otherwise the box will have a distorted look.
The next step is to prepare the side surface of the box. It is known from the school course that the circumference is equal to Pi * 2R.It is this length and you need to cut a strip of cardboard. However, for this it is necessary to draw another circle with the same center inside the circle prepared under the bottom of the box, but with a radius less than the radius of the blank for the bottom by about 1 cm.
The strip of cardboard intended for the side is bent into a roll. This is done carefully, kinks and crackles of cardboard are not allowed. The ends are either glued, or sealed with an adhesive tape on the inside. After that, it remains to glue the side wall to the bottom. But for this it is necessary to make small incisions along the entire length of the strip of cardboard. Then they gently bend. This provides a large surface contact between the sidewall and the bottom, and hence the reliability of their gluing.
By the same principle, a narrow strip of cardboard is made, which afterwards, after giving it a round shape, is glued to the circle intended to become the lid of the box. It is necessary to carefully choose an acceptable difference in the diameters of both strips( very small, depending on the thickness of the cardboard), otherwise the lid will loosely "sit down" on the box and begin to fly off it. When making a small gift round box it is convenient to use for the side surface and a neatly cut piece of round tube, and a cardboard roller from under the towels.
To make the box look more attractive and festive, its surfaces are prepared for decoupage or pasted with colored or patterned paper. There is no limit to the imagination of someone who wants to do everything himself, with their own hands.
