• A bedside table of unusual design. There is already someone in that much. Everything depends on the imagination, skill and experience of working on wood. If you want to supplement the situation in the bedroom with some unusual detail, you can think of an unconventional design.

Do not forget about one important parameter of the bedside table - the size. They must correspond to the free space next to the bed. When installing it around, there should be some more space left. If the width of the bedside table is such that the product occupies the entire space and rests against neighboring pieces of furniture, it will only spoil the overall appearance and cause inconvenience. But it will also not be very nice if the bedside tables are narrow and too low. In other words, everything must adhere to the golden mean, and do not go too far with any parameters.

All of the above options can be made by hand. The cost, which will cost a self-made bedside table, depends on its size, the number of boxes, the quality of the fittings and the material chosen for manufacturing. But today we will consider this process using the simplest and cheapest, traditional model, which can easily be done by a person who does not have much experience in furniture production.

Tools that will be required for the operation of the

Tools will require the most common ones, which are most often in the arsenal of every man who occasionally deals with minor repairs and other household chores: the

• drill with a screwdriver attachment;
• perforator( if any);
• wood drills;
• different screwdrivers;
• cutter 35 mm.in diameter;
• iron;
• measuring tape;
• pencil;
• tool "right angle" with ruler;
• rags, nazhdachka.

By the way, the iron in this list was not at all by mistake, as you first thought. The fact is that you will have to order details in any carpentry workshop, as you will not have to worry about.to do it yourself, conditions, a special tool and special knowledge are necessary. To reduce costs to a minimum, you can try to save on gluing the edges. You can buy in the store melamine edge thickness of 0.5 mm, pick it up under the shade of the future bedside table and paste yourself. It has an adhesive side, which must be applied to the surface of the part and ironed with a hot iron. To glue the surfaces together well, take a rag and, without waiting for the edge to cool, press it firmly and iron.

The material from which we will make our bedside cabinet

In order to determine the choice of materials, you need to study their types and properties, as well as estimate how much you can spend on them. The most cost-effective are the pedestals from the chipboard. It is because of its low cost, this material has become widespread. And the most expensive are the pedestals of a natural solid wood. But sincewe are now making a simple, budgetary option, then the materials will be considered not expensive:

• chipboard. From this material we will make the facades of our bedside table bedside by our own hands. The chipboard is a particle board, covered with a laminate as a decorative coating. This material has a rich palette of colors and textures, it is easy to process. But not everyone knows that it is impossible to cut out the details of furniture from it, becauseif you saw it with an ordinary tool, then the decorative coating would be broken off, and the place where the saw passed would be torn and ugly. Therefore, if for the hand-made production of the bedside table is chosen exactly the chipboard, then it is better to order the cutting of details in the carpentry workshop.

• Fibreboard. This is a fiberboard, which is manufactured in much the same way as a chipboard, only wood fibers are used as the material, and not sawdust and shavings. Fibers are thinner and more flexible than chipboard. From this material we will produce the bottom of the drawer and the back wall of the bedside tables( details that are not visible from the side) in order to save, becauseFibers are cheaper than chipboard.

Tips and subtleties that need to be considered when working with chipboard:

• sheets of chipboard can have different thicknesses - from 1 to 3.8 cm. A plate 1.6 cm thick is most often used;

• plate size can also be any, therefore, for the sake of saving funds, you should draw a layout of the parts on the board before sawing and estimate what size it should be to fit all the structural elements and at the same time leave a minimum of waste;

• before purchasing material, it is important to carefully inspect it. The surface of the plate should not have any damage, scratches, potholes. If they are, then it is desirable that they are only on one side, otherwise, the product will not look good;

• also need to pay attention to the degree of dryness of the material. It should not be water-saturated, otherwise it will warp on drying, and it will simply not be possible to process it;

• when transporting already cut parts of the future design, from the carpentry workshop to the house, it must be ensured that when the machine bounces on the bumps, they do not beat each other and the body, and are not damaged. It will be best to cover the bottom and sides of the body with paralon or other material that can soften the blows, and the parts themselves can be linked together.

Important information about fiberboard:

• thickness of furniture sheets of fiberboard is from 3 to 5 mm. The strength of the product depends on it. But most often this material serves to make internal parts not visible from the side. In terms of thickness, the optimum for these purposes is a three-millimeter sheet;

• the sizes at DVP, as well as at DSP, can be different, but, unlike last, it is not so important. It happens that there is simply no choice, and there is only one format in the store;

• strict quality criteria for fiberboard does not exist. For our purposes, any sheet will be suitable. But still, it's better to give up buying if it has a wavy surface. After all, this means that the sheet is soaked and wrinkled, and it will be very difficult to work with it now.

Dimensions and the number of parts for the manufacture of the pedestal of the simplest design

To order in the carpenter's workshop the cutting of the bedside tables, the drawing is mandatory. It is necessary to sit down at the table and draw with all its components, think out the dimensions, design and number of identical parts. I remind you that in our case this is the simplest and cheapest model with a drawer without runners and facades made of chipboard. Dimensions and number of parts:

• side details of the bedside table with a size of 77,2x50 cm - 2 pcs;

• bottom and shelf in the size 36,8х50 cm - 2 pcs;

• the plinth and the top planks in the size 36,8х10 sm - 3 pieces;

• side parts of a box in the size 48х11 cm - 2 pcs;

• of the box wall with a size of 33.4х11 cm - 2 pcs;

• the front of the box is 15x39.5 cm;

• a door of a bedside table in the size 51,5х39,5 see

The plate from which the bedside table will be made, has 1,6 sm in thickness. It is better to take the lid of the curbstone. Its size is 52.5x40 cm and the thickness is 2.8 cm.

The back wall and bottom of the box can be made from a cheaper fiberboard in the following sizes:

• rear wall with a size of 67x39.5 cm;

• the bottom of a box in the size of 47,5х36,5 cm.

The main fastening elements will be furniture euro-screws, for which it is necessary to drill holes. In the planes drilled 8 mm in diameter, and at the ends - 5 mm in diameter. In the drawing, which was mentioned above, the number of holes should be indicated, and which of them are drilled.

Accessories that will be required for assembly

The choice of fasteners must be taken very responsibly, because it depends on them how long the product will last. In the store selling furniture accessories it is necessary to purchase:

• packing of self-tapping screws 4x30 for installation of a cover of a bedside table and a front panel of a box. Attach them from the inside;

• euroscrews 5x70 in the amount of 22 pcs. They fix the socle and planks. Screw on each side one euroshurup;

• packing of self-tapping screws 4x16 with concealed bonnet to fasten loops and fiberboard. When screwing into the bottom of the box, they should be buried to avoid scratches on the shelf;

• furniture loops in the amount of 2 pieces. It is necessary that they correspond to the diameter of the existing cutter;

• handle for the door and drawer in a quantity of 2 pieces;

• if there is a desire, you can purchase adjustable legs for furniture, in case you need to be able to install a cabinet on an uneven floor. But this is optional.

Assembly of the details of the bedside table

The smallest sheet of chipboard is 183x244 cm. 2.5 quarters of this size and structure will come out of it; therefore, before taking on work, it makes sense to cooperate with someone from friends or relatives to not store the remaining material, and at the same time and to divide expenses.

From all of the above, it is quite clear how it is possible to assemble the pedestal parts, it remains only to mention the two most important technical details:

• When assembling the bedside table, it is necessary to check the correctness of the corners. All of them must be straight, otherwise, the design will be skewed, and the facades will not open properly.

• The distance from the edge of the door to the middle of the holes for the hinges is 2.2 cm. This is relevant for our case, when we have a 3.5 cm milling cutter and its corresponding loops. Above and below the distance from the edges is usually from 6 to 8 cm. If there are no features of the design, then how much is not so important. Next, you just need to attach the door with fixed hinges at the required height to the body and screw it with a fastener.

When the assembly work is finished, you can install the product in its place and start using it.

In case you have made facades from a material that does not have decorative coating, then it is better to paint it. To do this, first, degrease the surface, and then primed it. This operation is performed in order to achieve maximum paint adhesion to the surface of the bedside table.

After the primer layer has dried completely, you can start painting. It is best to use acrylic water-based paint. It dries quickly and does not exude such a smell as, for example, solvent-based paint. The dye is better applied in two layers, and, before applying the second should be carefully dried first.

For the main work a large brush is suitable, and for painting hard-to-reach places - a small one. After the product has completely dried, you can fix the result with a layer of furniture varnish.
