Soundproof building materials

There are several materials with which the inter-floor sound insulation is created:

  • Styrofoam board. The main advantages of this material are its low cost and self-extinguishing in case of fire( if add special additives). In addition, it is moisture-resistant, environmentally friendly and does not deform with time.
  • Glass wool and mineral wool. Advantage of cotton wool - high sound absorption and incombustibility. Using cotton wool, it is necessary to make a waterproofing layer, as it absorbs moisture. The disadvantage is that over time it crumples, which leads to a deterioration of sound insulation.
  • Non-crosslinked foam. It has excellent indicators for reducing impact noise. In addition, it is also environmentally friendly and light in weight.
  • Crosslinked polyethylene foam. It is the most preferred material for soundproofing. Does not require a waterproofing layer. It is also light, flexible and environmentally friendly.
  • Non-crosslinked gas-filled polyethylene foam. Does not withstand heavy loads for a long time. The air from the cells gradually leaves, it is blown away and turns into a normal film, in which there are no soundproof properties. Therefore it can not be used in floor screed.

We choose the method of soundproofing of floors

Sound insulation of interfloor overlappings is carried out in two ways - execution of a false ceiling or a floating floor. Floating floor is a screed made of cement-sand mix, concrete, gypsum or other materials. It is laid on a layer of soundproof material, but it must be elastic. Screed basically has a thickness of 50-80 mm, and a sound-insulating layer - from 3 to 50 mm. In addition, the screed must not touch the wall, so it is necessary to lay elastic gaskets, as a limiter.

Suspended ceiling is made of gypsum board. The layer of soundproof material is fixed between the ceiling and plasterboard, which is mounted on a metal frame.

Noise isolation of interfloor floors is not very difficult even with their own hands. For soundproofing the floor you need: soundproof material( for example, cotton wool), lighthouses, screed. Starting to make a screed, you need to consider that it should be floating. It has this name, because it will be on the soundproof layer and not touching the walls.

How is soundproofing of ceilings done on its own?

So, first you need to remove the floors. If they were wooden, then remove all the boards, and if concrete, remove the linoleum. Wash floors from dirt, dust and other debris. Pits, holes and irregularities should be sealed with a special repair mixture. Now on the edges you need to put vibration isolation pads, but their height should be slightly above the screed. Then they are fixed with liquid nails.

Then beacons are exposed, but in advance it is necessary to make the necessary level measurements. Expose them as accurately as possible, because it is on them that the material will fit. To carry cotton wool should be so that the beacons pierce through it.

Next, cotton wool is hidden under the main floor covering. It can be, for example, a parquet, then boards are stacked immediately on cotton wool. If there is a desire to lay the chipboard, then you need to make guides. And if you are going to make a concrete floor, then you need a coupler. To do this, dilute the cement-sand mixture with water in a proportion of 1 to 3. The solution should be almost dry.

First, a two centimeter layer is placed on top of the wadding. Then put a mesh, and again poured a solution height of 2 cm. Now it needs to be leveled around the perimeter, focusing on the lighthouses. Then they are removed, and the mixture remains to dry. After drying, the floor should be wiped. That's all, the insulation of the ceilings is ready. It remains only to lay linoleum.
