Feature of the tile for the lining of the oven
When choosing the material for facing the stoves, you need to take into account that the finish is not suitable for any option. Tiles for the furnace must necessarily have high thermal stability and strength, thickness is not less than 6-10 mm and have a low-porosity structure.
Only a few types of ceramic tiles - tiles, terracotta, granite, majolica and clinker, fully meet these properties. It should be chosen not only in appearance, but also in the purpose of the room. For example, for finishing a sauna stove, you need to take into account the heat and technical characteristics of the room, and for the home - it also corresponds to the interior in the house.

Before laying the tile on the oven, it is necessary to check how well the surface is prepared, after which the material should be sorted according to the color scale and size. The tiles should be arranged in color in separate piles face-up, then with a template-in size( because the trim elements may have small deviations).
Next, it is necessary to prepare the furnace: it must be cleaned thoroughly from the old paint, clay and in general from everything that prevents the tile from laying evenly. For cleaning, an iron brush is good. Also, attention should be paid to the seams: they should be cleaned to a depth of about 1 cm. In order to ensure the masonry strength, the furnace can be covered with a metal mesh, on which it is necessary to apply a layer of mortar, in the ratio: cement - 1 part, sand - 1/2 and clay- 1/3.
For laying, you can use special ready-made or dry mixes sold in construction stores, or you can make the mixture yourself: mix 2 parts of rock sand with 1 part of river sand and cement, add 200 g of salt to retain water in the solution( based onbucket solution).
The following tools are required for the cladding:
- steel hammer with a weight of 60-80 g, having a sharp tip for chipping;
- seam pads;
- spatula;
- steel cutter, roller cutter for tile cutting or tile cutting machine;
- template;
- emery block for tile inflow;
- wooden supports for pressing the material against the surface;
- gon, rule or level.
How to put the tile on the stove?
The laying of the tile on the oven must start from the bottom: first the whole tiles are laid, and in the end - the cut ones. The finished solution applied to the tile from the wrong side should be evenly distributed with a spatula over the entire surface. After that, the tile tightly presses against the surface of the oven and gently pricks on the hammer.
To ensure the same distance between the tiles laid out, they are aligned with the seams, then each row is straightened with a level. In order for the laid out surface to be ideal, each row must be supported with a wooden block with supports resting on the floor.
After laying the tiles on the oven is completed and the solution is almost hardened, it is necessary to wash it with a sponge with a soap solution. Then let the solution harden for at least 24 hours. After this, it is necessary to remove the joints with a viscous fire-resistant mortar and perform grouting, and after 10 minutes wipe the surface with a damp sponge and remove excess solution.
When the suture solution has dried, the lining material should be polished with a soft cloth. The furnace can be used the next day after the grouting has been carried out. Laying tiles is a painstaking job, but knowing how to put the tile on the stove and what tools to prepare, you can greatly ease your work.
