Therefore, to dwell in detail on the issues from which it is better to fabricate the platbands with our own hands, what tools to use and the like, it simply does not make sense - any construction or repair differ in its nuances, especially when it comes to decorative( carved) elements.

Material
The best option is wood. At least because it is much more convenient to fix such a frame, and fasteners are easier to "disguise".What can not you say about plastic, since if you screw it with a screwdriver, then how can you hide its head? Given that the lath will be subjected to a constant impact of rainfall, it is advisable to choose larch. Of all conifers, it is distinguished by the ability to increase its strength when wet, and this can not be avoided.
Recommended board thickness within the range of 20 - 40 mm. If it is difficult to choose a workpiece in width, then you can glue two narrow ones. In this case, experts advise using glue compounds that have a synthetic basis.
Accordingly, the "tree" must undergo preliminary preparation, which consists in its impregnation with special means - antiseptic( against decay) and flame retardant( from ignition).
When choosing paint coatings for "finish" coating, it is first of all necessary to be guided by such characteristics as moisture resistance. A shade - at the discretion of the owner.
If it is necessary to create additional insulation of window openings, it is advisable to prepare platbands made of polyurethane.
Frame manufacture
There are several basic rules:
- the frame dimensions must exceed the frame dimensions of the window unit by at least 2 cm on each side;
- its internal parameters are selected so that the window sashes easily open at any angle( up to about 110 - 1200).
The shape of the panels can be any: convex, rounded, but the simplest version for manufacturing - with a flat face.
The boards are fastened together with a spike( through or "dull").It is made of dry wood.
Use for assembling panels in the frame of glued compounds( rigid fixation) is not recommended, because under the influence of the atmosphere the casing will systematically change its geometry( temperature deformation), therefore the connection between the elements must be "flexible".
In some cases( if the characteristics of the material allow), it is advisable to do "sampling"( a kind of tape along the longitudinal axis) from the back of the panels. There is a heat insulation material.
Specificity of mounting
According to this criterion, all products are divided into 2 categories. On the telescopic clypeus there are protrusions that are inserted into the grooves on the frame. Overhead attachable "overlap", and most often "planted" on the glue. This technique is more suitable for plastic, so as not to use fasteners( screws or nails).However, it also has the disadvantage - how, if necessary, to dismantle the panel so it will not be damaged( especially if it is not solid, but with a thin pattern)?

If there is a desire to make a carved platband, then it is better for him to choose plastic, since it is much easier to work with this material. Preliminary, a template is made with a corresponding pattern, which is then superimposed on the workpiece.

If as materials for platbands it is planned to use polymer or glass fiber reinforced concrete, then all additional loads should be calculated beforehand, which will create such far from easy elements of design.
