The main entertainment for children in a country house is the sandbox, which is usually located in the children's corner. Therefore, when planning landscape design, always provide for the installation of a children's playground, in the center of which is a sandbox. It is here that children spend most of their time, receiving from this unspeakable pleasure. If your summer house does not have a sandbox, do not worry: you can do it yourself.

So, what is a sandbox? It is a common reservoir filled with sand and equipped with various attributes that contribute to a comfortable rest. The size of the accessory depends on the number of children who will use it. Usually sandboxes have the following parameters: sides 2-3 m, side height 30-40 cm

Location for sandbox

Before you start building a sandbox, you need to choose the most suitable place for it, taking into account the convenience of its repair and optimal use. First of all pay attention to the zone of visibility. It is important that children playing in the sandbox are under visual supervision. It is not worthwhile to install a structure near stationary structures, otherwise it can get precipitation from the roof.

During the game, children should not be exposed to direct sunlight, so it is advisable to place the design under a large tree or other protective coating. You can install it next to children's swings or other buildings on the playground. To prevent the leaves from falling into the sandbox, use the cover.

Site preparation

Although it is easy to build a sandbox, this must be preceded by preparatory procedures. Mark the area in the selected place and execute the layout, that is, remove the top layer of soil( 5-10 cm).

Sandbox made of wood

The most often sandboxes are made of wood, because the structures of this material are highly ecological, practical and aesthetic, and they can be placed on any site. To build a wooden structure, you need to do the following.

First you need to make a sandbox framework. To do this, knock down or assemble the screws in the correct form. To implement corner joints, install additional vertical posts( 50 × 50 bar) through which the adjacent elements are fastened. The height of these beams is taken 300-400 mm more than the height of the sides of the sandbox. After this, the structure must be turned upside down and make on the ground a marking of the sections on which the depressions are made.

Then the corner posts are placed in the prepared grooves and receive a reliable fixation, for which the stone-earth composition is compacted. Now the capacity obtained as a result of all the above-described works is filled first with drainage gravel( 50-100 mm layer), and then with clean sand. A thin layer of small gravel is required for faster drainage of moisture.

To increase the mechanical rigidity of the structure, horizontal jumper plates are installed at all four corners from the boards, which are located by fixing adjacent boards. Jumper, in addition to the strengthening function, can also be benches. In this case, the cutting edges should be cut with a hacksaw. If there is a need, you can make a protective cover, thanks to which the sand will be clean and homogeneous.

Other recommendations

To ensure that the sandbox never fails to please your kids, follow the following recommendations:

1. when building use edged planed boards that exclude injuries;
2. in the manufacture of construction, to protect against external factors, you need to cover the materials with varnish or paint;
3. bond materials with nails and screws;
4. sandbox should match the overall interior of the landscape;
5. to facilitate installation work, use a jigsaw and a screwdriver.
