Where corrugated pipes are used
The main property of the corrugated tube is resistance to loads created by ground pressure or other influences of large weight. If we compare a smooth tube and corrugated metal of the same diameter, it becomes clear that the surface area of the corrugated tube with the same pressing loads is greater than the outer surface of a smooth one. Therefore, the load per cm2 of the corrugated tube is much smaller, so that the bearing capacity of the communications increases and the service life of such products extends.
It is important to remember that when laying corrugated pipes, you should ensure that the soil or concrete mix is firmly adhered to it. If the pipes are laid with voids, there is a risk of deformation of the structural element.
Another important feature of the pipes is their flexibility due to the method of forming the surface using rollers of different widths and diameters. Areas where the diameter of the pipe is smaller have a smaller thickness of the metal, and therefore the element acquires the flexibility to make a bending line without additional connecting fittings.
These products are used not only for enclosures that protect electrical wiring. The technology of production of corrugated pipes is such that the diameter of the product can reach 20 m. Therefore, metal pipes with variable cross-section in any construction sphere are used. For example:
- for heating and water supply. It was this building material that solved the problem of laying communications in cramped conditions, where it is impossible to install traditional pipes with fittings. This method of installation allows to achieve the laying of long lines without a single joint.
- for wiring. Corrugated products meet all fire safety requirements, especially when installing concealed wiring in wooden buildings, thus preventing fire from short-circuiting.
- for construction work use corrugated pipes of large diameter. For example, these can be drainage channels, underground pedestrian crossings, tunnels and other similar objects.
Manufacturing of pipes with variable cross-section
Materials and equipment for the production of corrugated pipes are used only the most modern, automated lines, quality zinc-plated or ordinary stainless steel. This guarantees high quality products.
Manufacturing technology includes the following production steps:
- Step one
A stainless steel tape wound on a reel is attached to an automatic drive that feeds the metal sheet to the actuator. Moreover, the metal must first be cleaned of the oxide film, which can affect the quality of welded joints. - Step two
The tape is rolled into a hollow cylindrical billet with smooth walls. Together with this process welding of joints takes place, for which welding by tungsten electrodes in the environment of shielding gases is used. This gives a very reliable weld seam. - Third step
The formation of a variable profile section occurs by rolling through rolls of different diameters. - Step Four
Heat treatment of the product is carried out to increase its flexibility. Then the finished corrugated pipe is cut into pieces of a certain size and rolled into coils.
