Stages of wall alignment with plaster
The process of creating a perfectly flat surface consists of several stages:
- preparatory,
- roughing,
- finishing.
To begin with, the wall is cleaned of all sorts of residual materials, be it the bumps of the frozen solution, the walls that remained after the masonry, old wallpaper and plaster or peeling paint - whatever it is - it needs to be removed!
Work on surface cleaning is performed with a spatula, chisel, hammer, electric analogs( such as a perforator with flat nozzles or grinders) can be used. Before cleaning the wall, it is necessary to de-energize the wiring of the room, if this is not possible, turn off the entire house. This is a very important point of safety engineering, there is always a chance to touch the wires hidden in the wall.
Aligning walls - roughing stage
After cleaning the surface, the next step is the roughing stage. At this stage, the wall is primed, allowed to dry, and then the plaster grid is stretched and fixed, plaster beacons( templates) are attached throughout the treated area. They can be properly fastened by a tight cord or by using a laser level. There are several varieties of templates, in each case, they should be chosen taking into account the maximum value of the tuberosity of the wall. So that the top of the beacon is 5-10 mm higher than the most protruding point of the wall.
After installing the plaster templates, proceed directly to the rough plaster with the starting mixture. And let at this stage you do not mind the question of how to level the walls with plaster ideally - at the draft stage, remove the basic errors of the wall( large bumps and hollows).The preliminary layer should not cover the top of the lighthouse, it is worth leaving 5 mm for final finishing of the wall with finishing plaster.
The final stage of plastering
The application of mortar to the wall surface is performed using a plaster trowel with a pointed spout. Mixtures in plastering are used depending on the type of wall, that is, for each type( wooden, stone, brick, plasterboard, for damp rooms and others) it is necessary to use special plaster.
After the application of the rough layer, it is allowed to dry and the finishing coat of the plaster mixture is placed under the very tops of the beacons. The final plaster solution should be mixed very well before application with a mixer to obtain a homogeneous mass without lumps to ensure a flat surface. After applying the finish coat it is allowed to dry and rub until a perfectly flat surface is obtained.
Visually, you can see all the stages on the video "leveling of walls with plaster", which is presented on our website.
To obtain a perfectly flat surface, it is important to remember:
- , whatever layer of mix is applied to the wall, the process always starts from the bottom upwards, so that the top layers do not swim, having a reliable base;
- , when starting a new stage, you should allow the previous layer to dry as long as indicated in the instruction manual for the material used;
- to obtain an effective result, you do not need to save on the quality of the material and the working tool. Use of ready-made mixtures and reliable devices will save your repair from negative surprises!
Easy to you work and even walls!
