For a long time, the West has been using such a clever solution as selling electricity to the state. The point is that anyone can install a source of alternative electricity at home (wind turbine or solar batteries), generate it, use it for your own needs, and feed the rest back to the network through a special bidirectional counter electricity. The electricity sold is beneficial for everyone: the owner of a private mini-power plant can get a little richer, and the state in in turn promotes the so-called "Green Energy", the popularity of which is gaining momentum more and more today day. In this article, we will figure out how to sell electricity to the state, is it possible to do it at all and are such services profitable?

Green electricity tariff
To begin with, let's look at what a green tariff for renewable electricity is. This tariff implies the purchase of electricity by the state from individuals and commercial organizations. Electricity must be produced from renewable energy sources: sun, water, wind, etc. Per the sale of electricity to the state a private person receives a reward, and this attracts many owners of private residential buildings.
The fact is that in Ukraine the green tariff has already been introduced and is actively used by citizens. But Russia is just coming to this. So, let's dwell on this issue in more detail.
Ukraine
The green tariff in Ukraine has been developed until 2030. The sooner citizens wishing to sell electricity to the grid put their own power plant into operation, the more they will receive a reward for surplus electricity. If in 2015 they paid 0.2 euros for 1 kW of generated electricity, then in 2017 the cost of one kilowatt is 0.18 euros. In the future, it is planned to further reduce the cost of the rate: in 2020, 0.16 euros per 1 kW, and in 2025, only 0.14 euros. The cheaper payment of course increases the payback period of a private power plant.
It should be noted that individuals and companies selling electricity to the state are allowed to use any foreign equipment. However, for the use of domestic equipment there is a small surcharge - from 5 to 10%, if the power plant has from 30 to 50% of Ukrainian equipment.
To activate a green tariff in Ukraine, you need to perform a number of actions. For legal entities, the procedure is as follows:
- Development of a feasibility study (in other words, a business plan).
- Registration of a legal entity and rights to a plot of land where the power plant will be installed.
- Preparation of project documentation.
- Conclusion of an agreement on connection to power grids.
- Connection of a legal entity to the network.
- Obtaining a GASK certificate or a declaration of the facility's readiness for commissioning.
- Approval of the green tariff for the sale of electricity.
- Signing a contract for the sale and purchase of electricity.
For individuals (population), the procedure for introducing a green tariff is simpler. It is enough to do the following:
- Purchase and install equipment on the site (wind turbine or solar panels).
- Provide representatives of Oblenergo with a connection diagram and a notification letter, agree on a diagram.
- Receive a special invoice to pay for the services of Oblenergo.
- After payment, wait for the unit to be put into operation. Entry is carried out within 5 working days.
- Conclude a contract for the sale and purchase of electrical energy.
More information about the registration of a green tariff in Ukraine is described in the video:
Russia
In the Russian Federation, they have been talking about a green tariff for a long time, but the law has not yet entered into force, although the Rules have already been approved, and draft Resolutions have been prepared. This law should be submitted to the State Duma for consideration at the beginning of 2018.
However, the following is already known:
- The sale of electricity to the state in Russia will be available to facilities with a capacity of no more than 15 kW.
- It is not possible to sell electricity to the grid in apartment buildings.
- Energosbyt is obliged to buy surplus electricity.
- The cost of the tariff must be higher than the wholesale prices for this type of electricity.
- The income from the sale of electricity to the state should not be taxed.
Everything looks pretty good, let's see what happens in reality. The procedure for connecting a green tariff in the Russian Federation has not yet been announced, as will be known, we will definitely add information to our website Electrician himself.
Is it profitable to sell electricity
Considering the fact that the cost of solar power plants and wind turbines is quite high and at the same time you sell you will not have all the electricity, but only the residual, the question arises about the advisability of selling electricity to the state.
The best way to determine the return on investment is by drawing up a business plan. If you decide to sell electricity to the network and, accordingly, spend large enough amounts to buy equipment, we recommend using the services of a specialist so that he can calculate everything. Of the equipment, you will need at least the wind turbine itself (or solar panels), a network inverter, a controller and a bi-directional electricity meter. In addition, batteries will be needed to store the generated energy in case of something. As a rule, the service life of the equipment is more than 20 years. At the same time, the recoupment of equipment, based on feedback from Ukrainians, is about 10 years, it all depends on the tariff, the equipment itself and the amount of electricity sold.
In total, in about 10 years, the sale of electricity to the state will generate income and will fully pay off. If you are interested in this idea, you can try it. More than 60 countries are already actively introducing a green tariff in their cities, everyone is happy and remains in the black.
Finally, we recommend watching a video that tells how to make money on solar panels by selling electricity:
Now you know how the sale of electricity to the state in Ukraine is carried out. As for Russia, we hope that in the near future such an opportunity will appear for the population and we will be able to understand how profitable it will be to sell electricity to the grid.
