Door film - basic features
Self-adhesive film - a material made of PVC, which includes 2 layers: decorative and glued. The latter is topped with glossy paper protecting it from damage. The decorative layer is covered with another, so-called, polyester layer. It protects against mechanical damage and gives the surface a shine.
The top layer can imitate stone, marble, bricks, velor, fine wood veneers, metal, natural cork, and also it can be monophonic or with a pattern. In general, the film has a wide color gamut. It is sold in rolls of different sizes.

Preparatory work for door sealing
Before bonding, prepare the door surface. It must be cleaned of grease and stains. If before it was painted, and the old paint began to peel, then you need to remove it.
Next, you need to sand the surface with a large abrasive paper, and then walk again with fine-grained paper. This will make it smoother. Then wipe it with a damp washcloth, and then wash the door with a soapy solution and let it dry.
If there are defects on the door, then they should be covered with putty, then sanded. Next, you need to treat the surface with an acrylic primer. Before gluing the door should be perfectly even.
When the surface is ready, you need to remove the door from the canopies, remove the handles and locks. The ends and places near the hinges are treated with a plane. Then hang the door in place and check that when closing, there is a gap of about 1-2 mm. So the film will not deteriorate and wear off. Now, again, lift the door and get to work.
How to cover the door with a film - we do everything without rushing
On the reverse side of the film a centimeter scale is drawn. With its help, you can measure the required dimensions and cut it along the traced lines. The workpiece needs to be cut with a margin of 2-3 cm.
First, you can glue the end of the door, bending 1-2 cm on the door leaf. And then you need to proceed with the transformation of the main part, pasting slightly on the edge that was bent. The junction of this place should not be prominent.
You do not need to remove all protective paper immediately. Unstick slightly, remove at first 5 cm and glue the film to the canvas. Then, evenly and slowly pull the paper down. Then smooth with a rag so that there are no bubbles. You need to do this from the center to the edges. If the bubbles still formed, they must be pierced with a needle and, releasing the air, squeeze.
You can also get rid of bubbles with a hair dryer. It is necessary to soften the film with hot air and re-smooth it with a soft rag.
Continue sticking this way to the end. Then cut all the allowances with a sharp knife. The blade should slide along the edges of the door, so as not to cut off excess. Then iron the film around the edges.
After the doors have been pasted, it is necessary to cover the top with a protective varnish. When everything is ready, put the handles and locks and hang the door in place. Now she will attract attention with her novelty. A picture of the film will emphasize the design of the room.
