Liquid nails for plastic panels: are they able to replace simple nails?

Acquaintance with

material Liquid nails are a kind of building glue. From the usual, it differs in that it contains a fine filler in the composition, which makes it possible to glue the parts that do not fit snugly. The shelf life of such glue is one year.

There are two types of this substance:

  • Neopropropylene - based on an organic solvent. They are harmful to human health, have a sharp odor that persists for several days after application;
  • Acrylic - this kind of glue is not dangerous to humans, environmentally friendly. Used only for porous material and does not tolerate high humidity.

We use liquid nails for gluing plastic, wood, gypsum board, ceramics, glass, aluminum, cork. So, often plinth is fixed on liquid nails, or plastic panels. Also, this adhesive is used to seal shower cabins, bathtubs, ventilation holes, cracks in the wall, shells, door frames, corner joints.

Note! Despite the fact that liquid nails can be used as a sealing material, this is not their main task, therefore it is better to use sealants for these purposes.

How to use liquid nails for plastic panels?

Mounting plastic panels is easy if you use liquid nails as a fastener. To ensure that they are firmly adhered to the wall, the surface must be cleaned and leveled. If you do not carry out such preparatory work, then after a while the glue joints will begin to crack. After the wall is leveled and primed, the liquid nails will firmly hold.

Before installing the panel, it is necessary to stand for 30 minutes at a temperature that is stored indoors, and their surface must be cleaned of dust and moisture. After that, on the tube with glue the tip is cut off, the cap is screwed on, which is cut off at an angle of 90 degrees. The prepared tube is installed in the construction gun. Liquid nails must be applied at a temperature of no more than 35 degrees Celsius. The glue is applied with strips or pointwise. Drying time is 15-20 minutes, complete drying - from one day to three.

Note! Plastic panels for liquid nails must be fastened in rooms with moderate humidity.
