Let's analyze the option of installing a two-level ceiling with a semicircular drop of 10 centimeters under one of the walls. Earlier we considered how to make a single-level ceiling from gypsum board with own hands with photo examples. The first step is to make a frame for the first level of the ceiling, and then to hang it with plasterboard. It is necessary to sew so that then we could easily get to the inner surface of the drywall. After assembling the first frame, proceed to assemble the second frame, necessary for the second level of the ceiling. The second tier of the ceiling will be lowered. However, everything is in order and with photo examples.
Installation of a two-level suspended ceiling from gypsum board with photo instruction
So, we collect the first level of the ceiling from gypsum board. The water level in the corners should be repelled horizontally at eye level. Now find the lowest point from the ceiling, step back from the ceiling of 4 centimeters and put a mark. Measure the distance between two marks. Then transfer the labels to the ceiling, keeping the distance between them. We connect the corner marks with lines, using an upholstery cord. We begin the installation of the profile( with the UD marking) over the line, using dowels with a length of 40 to 60 millimeters and a diameter of 6 millimeters.
The next step is assembling the frame from profiles( CD marking). After every 600 millimeters along the room, a CD profile must be installed. The profile is mounted on suspension brackets. In this case, these are spokes( U-shaped fastening).
First, using an upholstery cord, make lines along the ceiling every 60 centimeters. This line will be followed by our fasteners( after 50 centimeters). We fix with dowels 6 to 40 millimeters. In our case, the spokes are attached to the wood screws, as the base is made of wood. If the screws of self-tapping screws and dowels will fall into the loops of the spokes, apply washers or small pieces of an U-shaped fastener or profile.
Cutting the CD profile of the size you need with your own hands, put it inside the UD profile( exactly along the line). If the length of the profile is not sufficient, connect the two profiles using a special fastener. Put the two profiles on a smooth surface. We start the connector and fix it to 4 self-tapping screws 3.5 * 9 millimeters on each side. To make the profiles smooth, we recommend using the rule.
As soon as all CD profiles are wound up - it is necessary to tighten the thread( opposite the fasteners) and screw the CD to our mount while leaving a gap of 1-2 millimeters between the CD profile and the thread.
The next step is to install the embedded profiles for short sheet joints. First of all, cut out small pieces of UD profile( 10 centimeters) and screw them with self-tapping screws 3.5 * 9 millimeters to the side parts of the CD profile. We put into the prepared pieces of the profile UD profile CD length of 53.5 centimeters. One of the sheets will hold on to one part of the profile, and the other sheet after the other.
If you have a chandelier on the ceiling( see how to install and connect a chandelier or how to set the spotlights correctly), you need to make a mortgage profile. First cut the pieces of the profile UD( 20 centimeters) and with the help of self-cutters 3.5 * 9 millimeters we attach them to the lateral parts of the CD profile. Cut the two CD profiles, insert them into the UD profile, but leave 1 centimeter of the gap for the wire, as shown in the photo below.
Sheets must be installed in staggered order. The first row of sheets starts with a whole sheet on one side of the wall, and the next row with a whole sheet on the other side of the wall. Be sure to consider this. The sheets are fastened using self-tapping screws for metal( 25 millimeters).
Before proceeding with the installation of the sheets, it is necessary to mark the boundaries of our circle on the profiles. This is done in order not to fasten the sheets where the second level will be located. To do this, screw the profile into the profile with a screwdriver, not with your own hands and wind the wire. After measuring the required radius, bend the wire in this place, and draw a line with a pencil. The sheets should extend beyond the boundaries of the radius by 6-7 centimeters.
Now, again using a wire, you need to draw a line of a semicircle along our radius. And then another line, but longer than the radius by 5 centimeters.
On the second line, it is necessary to cut the drywall accurately, using a hacksaw blade for metal. This is necessary to ensure that the mortgage from the profile of the CD turned out exactly along the radius. The edge of the sheet must coincide with the edge of the profile.
Next we make a mortgage profile. It is necessary for a strong fixing of the lower profile along the radius. In gypsum cardboard there will be nothing, so the screws need to be fixed in iron. Cut the perforated CD profile of the required size and set it between the guide profiles. Bottom fix with self-tapping screws for metal. Since there are no perforated profiles, you can use a simple profile, cutting it with a turbine or scissors for metal. In order for the profile to bend freely, it is necessary to cut the butt and one of the sides through each 5 centimeters, as shown in the photo below.
After that it is necessary to establish a perforated UD profile along the radius line. To fasten it is necessary on self-cutters on metal in length of 25 millimeters, an end face to gypsum cardboard.
The next step of installing a two-level ceiling from gypsum cardboard with your own hands is assembling the frame for the second level of the ceiling from gypsum board. We fix the profile UD to the walls, but 10 centimeters lower than the frame of the first tier of the ceiling. One end of the CD profile is inserted into the UD profile, and the other end is screwed onto the U-shaped fastener. If the length of the profile is large enough, then it is necessary to install n-images every 50 centimeters. The profiles of the second frame are fixed exactly under the profiles of the first frame. The length of the profile should be 4 centimeters less than the distance to the semicircle.
Cut the sheets of gypsum cardboard( longer than the CD profile by 5-6 centimeters), fasten them to the frame. Again, we use wire to draw a semicircle at the second level of the ceiling along the original radius. Surplus giproscarton should be removed with a hacksaw blade.
Then, with the end facing the inner surface of the lower tier sheet, we screw the UD profile along the edge of the sheet. Cutting a strip of plasterboard of the right size, hole it with a nail or a needle roller on the inside, moisten with water. After an hour, you can fix the strip to the slope.
There is very little left. We fix the gypsum board seams. We work with a primer joint, shpaklyuem joints special putty. We cut the angular tape of the necessary sizes, we moisten it in water. Then apply the tape to the putty and get rid of the excess by using a rubber spatula. After that, put the putty on the entire joint and get rid of the surplus, using the edge of a wide spatula, as shown in the photo below.
The transverse joints of the suspended two-level ceiling made of plasterboard should be spread out with a knife 0.5 centimeters wide. Then they must be plastered on the plane of the ceiling with their own hands. Once the joints dry, they must be sanded and glued to the corner tape on the PVA( pre-wetted in water).Remove excess glue with a rubber spatula.
Between the second and first level of the ceiling there is an internal angle of the slope, which must also be glued with a corner ribbon. Prepare the ribbon in accordance with the photo below.
The main works are completed and the installation of the two-level ceiling from gypsum board is over. Now look at the article how the puttying of walls with own hands is done with a video example and detailed instruction and plastering of the ceiling from plasterboard video.
