Knauf drywall reputation dates back to 1958, when a German company of the same name introduced new products to customers. Since that time, she has gone all the way to the world's largest manufacturer of drywall with technical specifications that have become the standard. In 1993, the company launched operations in Russia, opening a host of enterprises with modern equipment, common technologies and quality standards. Practical drywall “Knauf”, designed for fast and high-quality decoration of premises, is not stored in construction stores.

Brand Features

Knauf drywall advantages:

  • simple and quick installation;
  • treatment of GCR with water is excluded from the technology;
  • when finishing there are no "dirty" operations;
  • lets air through, is resistant to the formation of fungus;
  • gypsum has lower thermal conductivity than plaster; it retains heat better;
  • affordable.

Without going into technical details, a drywall is a layer of gypsum enclosed on both sides in a cardboard coating. That was the first drywall. Since then, this material has come a long way towards improvement. Now there are several modifications of drywall for different applications.

Types of drywall Knauf

The marking and names of Knauf drywall sheets currently differ from the generally accepted ones:

  • KNAUF-list GSP-A - standard (old designation - GKL);
  • GSP-H2 - moisture resistant (GKLV);
  • GSP-DF - flame retardant (GKLO);
  • GSP-DFH2 - moisture resistant (GKLVO);
  • GSP-DFH3IR - moisture resistant, high strength;
  • KNAUF-acoustics - large-format sound-absorbing panel.

KNAUF-list (GSP-A)

In rooms where humidity and temperature are within normal limits, this type of drywall is most often used. It costs inexpensively, it is well cut and takes the given forms. It is attached not only to the profile, but also to glue. "Friends" with any kind of finishing materials: it is pasted over with wallpaper, painted, covered with tiles, decorative stone. The ceiling version (9.5 mm thick) allows you to easily install modular lighting. With all the technical advantages, it remains an environmentally friendly material.

Normal GKL - GSP-A

The gray sheet GSP-A resembles a kind of sandwich of 2 layers of special cardboard, between which a gypsum core with reinforcing additives is placed. The edges are also covered with cardboard and have a semicircular, thinned shape, in which a reliable, tight joint between the sheets is guaranteed.

KNAUF-list moisture resistant (GSP-H2)

This type of drywall is used for the same purposes as normal, but in rooms with high humidity. He draws 90% less water than ordinary. Moisture-resistant sheets KNAUF (GSP-H2) of green color are distinguished by specific additives:

  • antifungal compounds protect the material from mold, the appearance of which is inevitable in a damp room with poor ventilation;
  • waterproofing solution does not let water into the material;
  • polymer impregnation reduces the absorption rate.

GKLV (moisture resistant) - GSP-H2

The physical and hygienic properties of this type of GCR make it an ideal material for living quarters.

Moisture-resistant drywall - a win-win option for bathrooms, kitchens, toilets, finishing loggias, balconies, door and window openings and even basements, attics, rooms for pools.

KNAUF-list fire-resistant (GSP-DF)

The fire-resistant type of drywall is designed for heat-resistant coatings and structures, whether it is wall cladding, partitions, suspended ceilings in buildings where humidity does not exceed regulatory requirements.

Tests conducted by the Russian Research Institute of Anti-Fire Defense of the Ministry of Emergencies showed that Knauf gypsum plasterboard practically behaves like ordinary non-combustible material.

The front side of the product is painted pink, the back - in gray.

GKLO (fireproof) GSP-DF

All features and applications of heat-resistant drywall are described in this article (plus video fire test).

KNAUF-sheet moisture-resistant (GSP-DFH2)

It is more expensive, as it combines moisture resistance and fire resistance. It provides a favorable microclimate for life and work. Its "breathable" sheets regulate the humidity in the room. It does not contain toxic components, has an acidity similar to that of human skin. Cardboard color is green. The quality of GSP-DFН2 meets international standards.

Reference: heat-resistant and moisture-resistant GCR can resist open fire for at least 20 minutes.

KNAUF-sheet shock-resistant (GSP-DFH3IR)

GSP-DFH3IR combines increased density with moisture and fire resistance, has increased strength and impact resistance. This versatile material is used in rooms that are subject to the most stringent requirements, including soundproofing.

"Diamond" GSP-DFH3IR

For production, a special facing cardboard is used, which has a blue color. The use of such a cardboard with increased weight increases the strength of the sheet in bending. For high-quality finishes, Knauf sheets GSP-DFH3IR are the best option.

KNAUF-acoustics - large-format sound-absorbing panel

These are plasterboard sheets with perforation. Suitable for rooms with normal humidity. Through holes serve as resonators: a sound wave enters a kind of trap and gradually damps. The sound-absorbing effect is further enhanced by a layer of non-woven fabric on the back of the sheet. Depending on the design of the room, the canvas may be white or black. Perforation patterns have several options, depending on which GCR varies in degree of sound absorption.

Knauf Acoustics

Tests recorded that the sound absorption coefficient of gypsum cardboard KNAUF-acoustics reaches 0.2. This is a very worthy indicator.

Perforation, in addition to damping the sound, has a memorable, stylish look. This is confirmed by all the photos illustrating the use of Knauf acoustic drywall. The company's products allow you to choose from several options with different types of holes: round, square, diffused-round.

Acoustic GKL in the interior of the apartment

Such drywall creates real acoustic comfort, which is necessary in schools, universities, concert halls and many other public institutions, residential buildings, not to mention production the premises. The installation of a ceiling or wall covering with such sheets is carried out at an accelerated pace, without significant labor costs.

Reference: acoustic drywall reduces the level of noise appearing in the room itself, reduces echo, fights with the echo effect, improves speech perception. But you should not count on a soundproof result - it will not protect from high-profile neighbors.

In more detail, the features of acoustic drywall are described. here.

Edge Pluck

GKL are divided into wall, ceiling, arched:

  • Sheets with a thickness of 12.5 mm are usually used for wall decoration and partitioning.
  • To create ceilings, you can use drywall with a transverse size of the same 12.5 mm. But it is heavier and more expensive than 9.5 mm thick sheets specifically designed for the ceiling.
  • Drywall 6.5 mm is best suited for arches or other structures with a shape different from rectangular.

Marking

Each drywall sheet manufactured by Knauf has its own designations, including:

  • the standard by which it was manufactured;
  • dimensions;
  • side edge type information;
  • letter designation of the type of drywall.

For example, a moisture-resistant sheet with a semicircular thinned edge of a standard size will have the following markings:

GSP type H2 GOST 32614-2012 (EN 520: 2009) PLUK 12.5-1200-2500
