Very often plastic windows after their installation require an important stage of work to complete the integrity of the structure. Installation of slopes on windows is not included in the standard list of services, and many construction companies require separate payment, while not skimping on the figure. Nevertheless, they are quite capable of establishing themselves. It is important to know the subtlety of the process so that in the future such slopes do not freeze or accumulate condensate due to possible mistakes made.

Problems with incorrect installation of slopes
Define wrong slope installation completelyvisually. Often the problem manifests itself and in this case it is necessary to take urgent measures to eliminate it. We will analyze the most common defects:
- The appearance of condensate at the junction or seam of the slope. Excess moisture is formed due to the difference in temperatures inside and outside the room, and contributes to leakage through poorly laid insulation. In this case, the structures of plasterboard are particularly dangerous, since this material is characterized by a high degree of absorbency. In this case, the responsibility lies with the installer of the windows, who did not take care of the quality of the sealing of the joints and laid either insufficient insulating material or completely neglected it.
- The freezing of slopes on plastic windows is caused by the penetration of cold air in winter through voids in the installation seam. If the mounting foam outside the building protrudes from the outflow, then under the influence of ultraviolet and weather conditions, it begins to break down. In this case, the formation of voids is likely, through which the winter air will directly flow into the design of the slope, which in combination with warm air inside the room will cause condensation and further freezing.
- No foam in some places when installing low tide. The mounting foam has the properties to penetrate into any voids and fill them, but in the event that its blowing was done inaccurately, there is a free space that leads to the appearance of drafts.
- The main problem with the appearance of moisture is the formation of fungus or mold. This has a bad effect on the human body, and besides, the fungus affects the structure of the walls and ceiling, contributing to the emergence of microcracks and their further destruction.
- Increased noise level. The formation of voids contributes to the penetration of air and noise from the street, while reducing the effectiveness of sound insulation.
As a rule, problems arise due to poor performance of installers, so it makes sense either to contact the specialists with a good reputation, or to provide personal control at all stages of work. If the work is carried out independently, then it will be superfluous to carefully and carefully fill all the voids with mounting foam with its subsequent finishing.
Materials for window slopes
The most widespread types of slopes are:
- gypsum plasterboard,
- plastic,
- slopes of sandwich panels,
- plastered slopes.
Drywall products are cheap and easy to install, but due to insufficient hardness of the surface, they easily damage. In addition, gypsum cardboard is highly absorbable, so dirt traces will not be easy to clean. In addition, drywall also absorbs moisture, so it is necessary to use either moisture resistant varieties or refuse to install structures from this material in places with high humidity.
However, such slopes are the most popular for a number of reasons:
- quick and easy installation,
- allow additional insulation,
- environmentally friendly material,
- possibility of carrying out cosmetic and repair repairs.
Drywall products are durable and practical. They are easy to paint and they do not require special skills for installation.
Plastic models have gained popularity because they have a low cost and allow to create a single structure together with a window or door leaf. To provide additional thermal insulation, plastic will require the laying of foam or mineral wool.
Sandwich panels are interesting in that they have a porous structure. Thanks to it they keep the heat better, and many manufacturers besides glossy or matte, offer slopes with a surface that imitates a tree. Like simple plastic, the panels are also easily mounted.
Plastering is a laborious process, but still retained a significant number of adherents. It should be noted that plaster has one advantage over other methods - the total cost of creating such slopes will be much cheaper. In all the rest, it is inferior to the performance of products made of plastic or plasterboard.
Assembling the slopes of the
If the window slopes on the windows are not part of the standard installation of the metal-plastic construction, then some people start to wonder: how to make slopes on the windows, without resorting to the services of specialists. Such work can be done on your own, but you need to take into account some moments:
- when living in a standard apartment on the floor above the first one, independent installation of external slopes will become a dangerous business, therefore this work should be entrusted to specialists,
- there is no need to neglect the means of protection. Plastic is unpleasant in that when it is cut, small particles are formed that can get into the eyes.
After the decision to install slopes on windows with the help of their forces was taken, then you need to decide what type of material for them will be chosen.
Plaster of slopes for plastic windows
The method of manufacturing slopes from plaster has morally become outdated, as modern materials have more advantages and that is important, they are mounted much faster. For example, if it takes 3-4 hours to install a window slope from plastic or plasterboard, then plastering takes a day or two.
But the devotees of this method still extol its advantages:
- high mechanical strength,
- durability,
- low material price, making $ 5 for a bag weighing 30 kg.
It is necessary to have minimal building skills in order to qualitatively carry out all the stages of the preparatory work:
- the surface for the installation of slopes is cleared of debris and construction dust,
- removes the remains of stone crumbs or concrete from the surface with a spatula and shoe knife,
- knives excess foam cut, formed after its solidification,
- further surface is subjected to a preliminary priming.
This helps to improve the adhesion of the material, so that the plaster is better bonded to the surface.
Then they begin to make slopes from plaster. The whole work is divided into conditional stages:
- Wooden slats are installed on the mortar or other adhesive base to set the level. They will in future serve as signal beacons and must be carefully fixed on the surface to prevent displacement.
- For work makki are made, representing a flat wooden rod with a nail driven into it from the side of the end. In this case, the malk is a rule, with the nail sticking out of the bar by 5 mm. To protect the window frame from scratches, on the protruding part of the nail wear heat shrink or a vinyl tube. The role of the mall is to distribute the solution evenly, while 5 mm of the composition must fall on the base of the window frame.
- Further on the surface is applied plaster, which with the help of the malk is evenly distributed over the surface. At the same time, its surpluses are removed in a timely manner.
- After pre-hardening, the slopes are rubbed with a simple float. Due to this, the surface acquires a uniform structure.
- After solidification of the surface, the slats are removed, and all angles are corrected with a solution.
- Slopes shpaklyutsya and prepared for painting.
- Finished surface is painted in two layers. It is recommended to use a special rubber paint which has the following advantages compared to the usual one:
- is resistant to deformation due to its strong heating or freezing,
- rubber paint does not crack in case of damage,
- is more durable.
Cladding of slopes with plasterboard
The use of plasterboard for the production of slopes will significantly reduce the time for their construction and does not require as much labor as the method mentioned above. For work, the following tool will be needed:
- screwdriver with a bit for self-tapping screws,
- spatulas 50, 100 and 200 mm,
- rags,
- mounting or shoe opener,
- grater,
- , 10 mm long self-tapping screws.
After the preparatory work aimed at cleaning the surface, you need to start installing the starting strip. It is designed to visually control the tight fit of the sheet to the surface. With the help of self-tapping screws, it is bored to the window frame. Then the answer plate is mounted. Attach it to the edge of the wall. The resulting design will provide the required level and replace the beacons. To ensure that the drywall sheet does not bend, the slats are connected by crossbeams. Install them at a distance of 30 cm from each other. Typical apartments, as a rule, make the top, bottom and two central. In the apartments of the old fund, everything depends on the height of the window.
There is an easier way to install gypsum plasterboard slopes. For this it is enough to cut 10-20 small squares of gypsum. Next, the squares are evenly glued to the wall. Be sure to install one in each corner and distribute 5-6 on the surface of the slope. Then apply a sheet of drywall, expose the level and look how much and where you need to glue the squares. When the preliminary work is done, proceed to gluing the slope itself. For this, glue is applied to the squares, and the space between them is blown with a mounting foam. The sheet of gypsum cardboard after installation should be fixed with a spacer so that the foam does not squeeze it out. This method allows to create a slope with higher energy efficiency and noise insulation. In addition, the possibility of siphons and drafts is completely excluded.
Finishing stage - plastering of seams and painting of plasterboard. If the escarpment is not white, but colored, you should initially paint it in 1 layer with white paint. Then on it paint 2 layers of color.
Finishing of slopes with plastic
The decoration of slopes of windows with plastic elements has become most popular due to their light weight, strength and durability. Unlike other types of slopes, the installation of which must be made 36 hours after the installation of the window, plastic are installed immediately after the installation of the window flaps. For this purpose, the perimeter of the frame is foamed and after its curing, even grooves are cut through the knife. Then they apply glue. Plastic elements are fixed by means of protrusions on them. Or else slopes with the help of liquid glue are directly glued to the surface and fixed with the help of snapping corners.
The slope panel itself should have the following structure:
- PVC coating of the same color scale and texture as the window profile,
- mineral wool or polystyrene insulation,
- PVC sheet resistant to moisture.
Plastic elements are convenient in that they can be dismantled and reinstalled without resorting to additional actions. Let's say this is done in the case of wallpaper gluing or other internal repair of the room.
Installation of slopes from sandwich panels
Such panels are interesting in that they have styles of manufacture with imitation of the texture of different materials. In addition, they better retain heat in the room and prevent condensation.
Like simple plastic slopes, installation of sandwich panels is carried out using the same technology. To the starting profile attach a slope, filling the vacant space with a heater, which is laid for plastic. Then, with the help of self-tapping screws attach the outer part of the slope, I hide with self-tapping screws.
If the installation of panel slopes on the windows, video installation of which can be seen below, assumes the use of brackets as accessories, then the installation is done somewhat differently.
Brackets with a double-sided mounting tape are attached with one side to the slope, the second to the wall, connecting them with each other screws. The side parts of the PVC slope are fixed on the windowsill with the help of liquid nails. After that, all the cracks are worked out by the sealant, while gently removing the excess with the help of rags and the slope is fixed.
