Preparing the ceiling and materials for the work

If there are stitches between the tiles, it does not look very nice above the head. Ceramic tiles without seams on the ceiling will not hold, as the seams level the errors of its geometry and compensate for the difference in temperature expansions of the tile and its base.

The emphasis in this case of finishing is on the lack of seams, because it gives the ceiling a more aesthetic and presentable appearance. Manufacturers of decorative tiles came up with a new technology for seamless laying. Foamed polystyrene ceiling tiles will make the surface smooth, because it hides the altitude changes in the surface. Laying tiles without seams - the process is simpler than the preparation itself for work.

Before laying, carefully prepare the ceiling: blur, remove paint, wallpaper, glue residues. Then the most gross defects should be eliminated. This can be done with plaster or putty. Then the surface must be primed.

Two to three hours before installation, the material should be unpacked, spread out on a flat surface and allowed to lie down indoors. To get a smooth and beautiful ceiling without seams, tiles should be sorted, after all, it happens that the lot comes across defective copies.

Ceiling tile without seams - correct marking and thorough gluing

Before gluing the tile without seams, it is necessary to correctly mark the zones. First you need to find the center. To do this, note the middle of the length and width and draw two mutually perpendicular lines, their intersection will be the center. Thus, the ceiling will be divided into four parts.

Also worth checking the diagonal of the room itself. With visible deviations, it is recommended to choose a tile with a small relief pattern. It can be stacked in two ways: parallel to walls and diagonally. With parallel installation, all four parts of the ceiling marking must be filled in sequence;when diagonal - the first tile should be glued to the center, so that all its angles clearly coincide with the marking lines.

For the laying of ceiling tiles, it is recommended to use a transparent water-soluble adhesive or liquid nails. Adhesive composition should be kneaded, clearly following the instructions. The glue is applied along the perimeter and on the diagonals of the tile with a small comb or a narrow spatula.

Next, each element is glued according to the marking and pressed the entire plane for 10-15 seconds. After that, you need to remove excess glue with a clean rag. Avoid gaps between the tiles for subsequent installation.

We remove sudden failures - we close the seams

Although the technology is called seamless, tight seams are only in theory. They are still present up to 1 mm thick, and if the ceiling does not have a clear diagonal, then even more. Over time, the seams between the tiles will become darker and will catch your eye. To avoid this, you need to seal the seams.

This procedure does not take much time and effort, and dark slots will not be evident afterwards. Before you seal the seams on the ceiling tiles, you should choose the right composition. Seams can be sealed with a special grout, acrylic sealant or putty.

Silicone sealant for this purpose is not suitable, because over time it turns yellow. The seam is filled from the tube, if using a sealant, or with a narrow spatula, if using mixtures.

It should be ensured that the entire seam is carefully filled, without missing. After that, clean the excess material using a clean rag. The final touch is to glue the ceiling skirting, the decorative rosette under the chandelier and paint, if necessary.
