It is resistant to ultraviolet radiation, and therefore does not turn yellow with time. It is easy to repaint and has good vapor permeability. When covering, the structure of the tree is visible.
When working with such a paint, weather conditions must be taken into account. In cold and humid weather, drying and film formation slow down. If the precipitation falls on a dry surface, the enamel may disappear. In hot weather, it is also not recommended to work, as it will dry up too quickly, and you will not be able to apply a layer evenly.
Oil paint itself reveals its basis in the name. It can be flaxseed oil, alkyd resin, drying oil or a mixture of different oils. Its characteristic feature - oil penetrates into the tree and forms a waterproof film. This makes it possible not to dilute the paint with solvents. It has a good covering ability, so it consumes less. The disadvantage is the drying time: 1-3 days.
The basis of alkyd enamel is the resin of the same name. It has a high opacity, which masks all surface irregularities, due to its fullness. Such enamel is resistant to mechanical and atmospheric influences, it has good adhesion to wooden and previously painted surfaces. It is also distinguished by its economical consumption and long service life.
We paint the windows ourselves
The choice of which paint to paint the window, remains for the owners of the house. Tools that will be needed for work: a metal brush and scraper( for removing old paint), an atomizer or brushes, a plastic film and a painting tape( to protect unpainted surfaces), a cuvette.
If you stopped on the brush, then it is better to take a flat, it is more convenient to apply a coating. After the choice is made, you need to prepare the base for painting. First, examine the frame for defects. If the surface is smooth and has no peeling and chips, then it must be washed with a soap solution and allowed to dry.
If there are any irregularities or the old paint has peeled off, it is necessary to remove it, then putty these places and dry it. Next, sand the shpatlevke with fine sandpaper, and then apply a primer. And now you can start painting.
After opening the can, the paint for the window frames is poured into the cuvette. So it's easier to remove excess enamel from the brush. It should be applied from the top down, the brush should be slightly moistened and should not drip from it. The paint is put in a thin even layer. When it dries, check if there are any marks left on the glass, if so, then clean it with a scraper.
