To have a summer cottage or a summer house is wonderful. Here you can grow vegetables, fruits, create a beautiful garden, relax with children, friends. That is, options for pastime are more than enough.
However, you definitely want to take a shower, refresh yourself after working in the garden or in the garden. For this, of course, we need the appropriate devices.
Just pouring a bucket of water - not the most enjoyable option. It is not always possible to make an entire bathroom. Therefore, the optimal solution is to build a shower with our own hands. And as a material polycarbonate perfectly suits.

Stages of
Having decided to build a shower with our own hands, using polycarbonate, we recommend breaking up the work into several basic stages:
- Creating a project;
- Shower room arrangement;
- Warming;
- Selection and installation of the tank;
- Creation of heating;
- Plum Arrangement.
Let's look at each of them in more detail.
Creating the
project At this point, you need to take a piece of paper, or use the capabilities of the computer.
Think about what shape you want to make, whether the cabin has a room for changing clothes, what size and size of the biggest member of your family. Calculations should be made based on these parameters.
The standard sizes for a shower room are as follows:
- 1 square meter - the area of a square floor;
- 2,5 meters - the height of the cabin.
Of course, the project can have a number of individual features based on your wishes, requirements. The most important thing is to think through every centimeter, to specify the dimensions of the structure, to provide a location for it, as well as the possibility to connect if necessary. Do not forget about the drain system.
Arrangement of the cabin
- Make the marking of the territory under the foundation.
- Dig a hole about 80 centimeters deep.
- At the bottom lay profile steel pipes, which are installed at the same level.
- Fill the pit with concrete.
- Start assembling the metal frame. The corners of the metal are collected in a square and fixed with a welding machine. So you create a square under the tank and floor.
- The corners of the obtained squares are fastened with racks to create something like a parallelepiped.
- Beforehand, think about the location of the doors before fixing the cross bars. For them, pipes with a diameter slightly smaller than the diameter of the racks will work. They are welded or bolted to the base of the frame.
- Now hang the door hole and treat the metal elements with special primers and paints.
- Proceed to the arrangement of the floor. Here you will need a special tube. Through it, water will drain into the drainage system. This water can be useful for watering the garden.
- If you are doing a booth with a cloakroom, limit the possibility of getting water in there. To do this, it is enough to make a step or threshold on the floor.
- The received design is sheathed with polycarbonate. As practice shows, the optimal thickness of the sheets is 20 millimeters. Fixation is carried out with the help of bolts.
Thermal insulation
If you plan to use the shower in the winter, then, of course, insulate it. Here the best solution will be polystyrene foam. Fill the carcass compartments before the skin. It is also recommended to cover the polymer sheets with films that promote protection from moisture and steam.
To give the cabin a more attractive appearance will help linoleum, PVC panel or oilcloth. Here, focus on your own preferences, but choose only moisture-resistant materials.
Selecting and installing the
tank The tank must be installed on the roof of the cab so that it is exposed to direct sunlight. So capacity can quickly and efficiently warm up.
Think about how it will be more convenient for you to fill the tank manually or connect a hose from the water pipe to it.
The mold should be chosen by yourself, exactly as the material - aluminum, plastic, steel. Please note that plastic ones are the easiest to handle, they are easy to transport, they quickly warm up the water. However, in winter, be sure to cover the plastic container to protect from frost.
Metal heavy and bulky, require regular maintenance and a more powerful frame.
As for the volume, then focus on the number of family members and the intensity of using the shower. As a rule, 200 liters is enough.
Creating a heating
Heating can fully charge the sun. Often, many people do. However, in a short time water will not heat up. Because we have to look for alternatives.
For example, you can do something like a greenhouse on the roof of the booth. This is the simplest design of racks covered with polyethylene. Such measures make it possible to increase the heating temperature by 10 degrees.
Mirror, foil, which are attached to the north side of the structure, also helps.
Do not forget to install the float in the tank, which will raise the cold water upstairs, and you can take a shower under the already heated water.
For winter operation it is recommended to install a large heater - something like a boiler. It is better to divide the tank into two sections - for cold and hot water. To heat 50 liters of water with a boiler with a capacity of 2 kW you will need an hour and a half. The simplest mixer will make a warm shower.
Discharge organization
For this you will need a small groove, compost hole, drainage system and a quality septic tank.
Please note, you can not place a septic tank and drain directly under the cab, as this will lead to unpleasant smells. Also do not forget to make a drainage pit more than the volume of the water tank used.
Rules of operation
The beauty of polycarbonate is that it does not need special and thorough care.
- Emerging contaminants are hammered by a stream of water from a hose.
- Do not rub the panels with hard cloths, do not use detergents with abrasives, as this will create a lot of scratches.
- Before using this or that product, make sure that the constituent components are not dangerous for polycarbonate.
