Material characteristics
Experienced builders have long considered brick the most practical and convenient material for construction. It is used both for finishing facades, and for building internal partitions of a building. Its advantages are strength and resistance to external aggressive media. It is advisable to use brick walls in the construction of a bearing structure using reinforced concrete slabs.
Due to the small overall dimensions of this material, it is possible to create original designs of various shapes. In this regard, preference is given to it not only in the construction of new buildings, but also in the restoration of ancient estates and churches.
Brick is a material that has good thermal conductivity. This allows him to protect the building from severe frost and heat. However, it will be very problematic to heat this room. Also, prolonged exposure to cold adversely affects its performance. A brick is made with the use of various clays, which affects its color. Thus, the red walls of this material are made using red clay, and the white brick wall is made of white clay.
Note! Due to the use of various impurities, it is possible to obtain a material of any color, which is very good for facade finishing.
Where and how thick is the wall used?
For the construction on your own you need to know what the thickness of the walls of a brick house should be. For bearing and facade walls, the thickness can be 38-39 centimeters and 51-48 centimeters when laying in a half brick and two, respectively. The discrepancy of a few centimeters is related to the thickness of the cement slurry that masonry is made. Bearing walls can be thinner, but not less than 25 centimeters.
Foam concrete blocks are often used for internal partitions for the purpose of economy. However, if for some reason the choice is stopped on a brick, then its standard dimensions must be taken into account. For partitions, half or a quarter of the brick is used. So, at half the thickness will be equal to 12 centimeters, when stacking on the rib 6.5 centimeters. Knowing what the thickness of the brick wall should be, you can start construction.
Note! When building thin partitions longer than 1.5 meters, it is advisable to use reinforced wire.
Brick wall as a style room
In addition to construction, in recent years, the brick wall in the interior has received no less spread. Its peculiarity is that this material can add to the interior both brutality and rudeness, and warmth and comfort. Brick masonry has a large number of different types. The most popular of them are:
- Track;

They are painted to create the integrity of the space, because it turns out a perfect combination of coating textures. The most popular is white color, but also various bright colors are also used. As we see, the brick is an excellent material for construction, thanks to its performance characteristics, and a wonderful decorative material, with which a variety of interiors are created.
