Preparatory work
A wicket made of wooden boards is made, the frame is assembled from a bar. The frame will be hung on the support-bars, which the performer is obliged to install in advance in the ground with the help of metal wedges-supports.

The main stages of assembly
First of all, you need to prepare a frame, which will be the basis for the wicket. Its height should be 5-10 cm less than the height of the boards. This will reliably fix them, without worsening the appearance of the structure.
Assembly is performed using narrow metal corners and hardware.
It is necessary to select bolts, which in diameter are much smaller than the width of the beam used to assemble the frame.
Otherwise, the risk of material damage is high. In the center of the assembled rectangle, a cross bar is additionally attached. It will allow to strengthen the design and correctly distribute the load.
Next, the work consists in the direct assembly of the frame and nailing the boards to it. Will help to understand how to make a wooden gate with their own hands the following instruction:
1. The prepared frame is used for the previously dug-out supports.
2. The frame is firmly installed in the opening( used as a backup as in the photo).
3. The hinges are fastened to the hinges( bolts must not be twisted completely), pre-setting the entire structure in accordance with the level.
4. Fasteners are adjusted and pushed to the limit.
5. The prefabricated boards are screwed onto the carcass with self-tapping screws. They need to be placed close to each other, avoiding the appearance of unsightly gaps.
These steps will make a wooden wicket, which the owner can later paint. It is advisable to conduct the impregnation of materials with antiseptic before using boards and beams. This will protect the wood from soaking or drying out. In addition, the composition will help prevent damage to the tree by pests and eliminate the formation of fungi on the fibers.
Top stringer fabrication and latching
To have a wicket made of wood look really attractive, it is recommended to make the upper frame of the opening. For ease of use, the bar should be placed not at the level of the top of the boards, but slightly higher. To do this between the top of the support and the bar itself, you can put a small piece of board or timber. Scrap the elements better with long nails( 4-5 pieces).This will reliably fix the addition.
No less important element of the wooden gate is a small door lock. It must be placed on the edge of the wicket board( with the opening side).You can use a small metal fittings: it will well complement the design and help tightly close the door.
