What kind of baits exist?

A standard screwdriver bit is a hexagonal rod, on one side of which is a working profile, and on the other - a tail for fastening in the holder or the spindle of the tool. Two-sided bits are also actively used, in which both ends are the working profile. For example, this can be a straight profile in combination with the profile Phillips .If you work long with one type of hardware, you can use this two-sided profile, but with the same profiles at both ends. Double-sided nozzles are often available with an elongated stem.

In addition to them, special nozzles are also available. Such, for example, refers to a bit with a spring lock, which contains a spherical hexagonal profile, the so-called corner nozzle. This nozzle allows you to twist / unscrew the screws at an angle of 30 degrees relative to their axis, which greatly simplifies work in hard-to-reach places. Such nozzles are often the only way to greatly facilitate and accelerate the work with complex structures.

Note! For the convenience and interchangeability, the standardization of the sizes and shapes of the tails has been introduced. So, the most common standard is 1/4 inch.

The right choice is the key to the success of

Nozzles for a screwdriver need to be selected correctly. So, there are nozzles for hand and electric tools. Outwardly, they can be distinguished by the presence of a tip and a tail of a special section, which is necessary to absorb shock loads. Such bits are called torsion ones. However, these nozzles are only needed for frequent and intensive work, and for ordinary use, regular bits are also perfectly suitable. Quality corner pieces are made of good metal, which allows them to reliably serve a long time.

How well a particular corner bit for a particular screw is suitable is determined by experience. To do this, the nozzle is inserted into the slot and the strength of the contact is checked by scrolling. If it sits tight and without gaps, then it fits. Otherwise, there will be a scrolling of the nozzle in the screw, which leads to a rapid wear of the bit and "slipping" of the splines. A nozzle for a screwdriver for gypsum board is selected in the same way.

Important! Incorrect selection of the nozzle will affect the fact that your expenses for buying new bits will increase.

Angle attachments for screwdriver are made of different materials. So, a set of attachments for a screwdriver can have bits not only of different shapes, but also of different materials. Standard materials are:

  • Special steel for tools R7-R12, which has a high degree of resistance to wear. It is used to work with incandescent materials, but very quickly it is destroyed by contact with solid rocks;
  • Wins;
  • Silica-magnesium spec. Very resistant to work with all kinds of metal and mineral, concrete;
  • Tool steel with impurities is won;
  • Special strength of the nozzle is obtained from the deposition of titanium nitride.

A good corner nozzle should have a metal gear and housing. Reducer is better to choose precision, because it allows you to work accurately and comfortably. The recommended height of the nozzle should be at least 50 millimeters, which will make it possible to work in the most inaccessible places. The best handle is one that rotates 360 degrees for ease of use with both hands.

Note! For work in hard-to-reach places it will be useful to use a two-step tail of the tool.
