Hinged ventilated facades - what is it?

The modern ventilated hinged facade is a facing material and a sub-structure that is mounted in a certain way to the wall of the building. A feature of this installation is the presence between the wall surface and the lining of the air gap. Thus, the ventilated facade is the following sequence of layers: the building wall, the air gap, the decorative protective screen.

This design provides the possibility of additional insulation of the facade with the use of appropriate thermal insulation materials. However, in this case, the "pie" will look a little different: a wall, a heater, an air gap and a protective and decorative coating.

It is worth remembering that the insulation must be as close as possible to the surface of the wall!

A considerable role is played by auxiliary elements of the hinged structure. They are usually referred to as decorative inserts for masking gaps between facing panels, sealing tapes, perforated metal elements for free air circulation in the structure, fasteners - combs, clamps, rivets. Mounting of ventilated facades, more precisely, a sub-structure, can be carried out on the walls of a bearing and self-supporting type. The wall can be made of concrete or brick. The very sub-structure is made of either wood or metal. As the facing material for hinged facades may act:

  • siding;
  • porcelain stoneware;
  • blockhouse;
  • glass;
  • natural stone;
  • façade board;
  • facade slabs;
  • fiber cement panels.

Suspended ventilated facade systems - the main advantages of

Undoubtedly, the main advantage that hinged ventilated facade systems have is free air circulation between the building wall and the protective and decorative design. It is due to the presence of an air gap between them that condensate is removed, molds and fungi appear on the walls, premature destruction of the facade from moisture. In addition, this makes it possible to form the most favorable microclimate in the building. Installation of a hinged structure can be made all-the-year-round, as at its realization there are no "wet" works, depending on weather conditions.

Ventilated facades can rightly be called universal. They are suitable for decoration of industrial buildings, multi-storey houses, shopping centers, private houses, townhouses.

Hinged systems, which use the thermal insulation layer, can significantly reduce heat losses and, accordingly, reduce the cost of heating the premises. Thus, the walls of the building will be reliably protected from overcooling and overheating. Most often, heaters are also characterized by good sound insulation properties, which increases the degree of noise absorption by the walls of the building.

Among other things, the systems of hinged ventilated facades have an excellent appearance, thanks to a rich choice of cladding materials and a wide range of colors. Mounted in accordance with all applicable standards and standards the hinged facade is able to last for many years, because it is not afraid of direct sunlight, pollution, precipitation and even acids.

Mounting of hinged ventilated facades on the metal and wooden frame

Today, installation of hinged ventilated facades can be carried out using a metal or wooden frame. The first is ideal for those cases when a fairly heavy material, for example, a natural stone, is used as the lining. The wooden frame is widely used for subsequent siding with a siding, facade board or blockhouse. It is worth noting that the installation of both types of skeletons is not too different from each other. However, special attention should be paid to the fastening elements and guides.

So, the metal frame is a set of aluminum guides and brackets that are mounted to the walls of the building with the help of special fasteners. With the help of anchors brackets are attached to the walls. On them, in turn, with the help of bolts and rivets, horizontal and vertical guides are mounted. After the preparation of such a metal frame using self-tapping screws, a protective screen( lining) is installed.

If additional insulation of the building is required, the insulation material is laid between the brackets, tightly pressed against the wall, fixed with a windproof diaphragm and guides. With regard to the wooden frame, the crate of the wooden beam is attached to the walls of the building using dowels. In this case, a "step" of 0.4-0.7 m is maintained. In the next step, steam and heat insulating material is laid on top of the battens. As in the case of a metal frame, this "pie" is covered with a windproof film and fixed with guides.

They will then be mounted on them. Undoubtedly, behind apparent simplicity of installation there are numerous nuances and "pitfalls", which are known only to professionals. That is why all work on the installation of ventilated facades of the hinged type should be carried out only by qualified specialists.
