the drain in the washing machine does not work

For a start, let's take a quick look at the drain device. At the end of the washing process, the water rushes through a short pipe running from the drum to the drain pump. The electronics give a signal - and the pump starts pumping the liquid into the drain pipe, from where it enters the sewer. After the water in the tank is not left, the pump turns off. The system "branch pipe - pump - drain hose" is fixed on the distributor, in a form reminiscent of a cochlea. In honor of it, he, in fact, was named.

Throughout the process, and especially - during the spinning process, the pump carries a tremendous load.

On the way from the tank, the way to the water is blocked by a drain filter - a grating protecting the pump from hitting coins, buttons and other small debris. If foreign objects could not escape into the internal space of the device, the probability of the pump becoming clogged and out of order is high. Then it will have to be repaired, or even replaced at all with a new one.

Causes of malfunctions, their signs and solutions

Among the most common causes of problems with drainage of waste liquid, the masters call the clogging of pipes that discharge water into the sewage system, power failure, mechanical damage and, finally, insufficient engine power.

The most common cause of pump problems is clogging .In this case, it is necessary to clean the internal space of the pump, snail and drain filter.

First of all, disconnect the device. In the lower part of the case there is a small round hatch;place a suitable container under it to drain the remaining water in the machine. Count on the fact that the volume of liquid is at least 1 liter. After opening the hatch, remove the filter and clean it. Then return the grille to its original position, close the hatch and restart the washing machine.

Damage to the wire in the washing machine

Drain still not working? The reasons are in damage to the pump. Problems can be caused by an electrician: one of the wires may be damaged, resulting in a breakdown of the voltage supply to the pump. In this case, remove the rear wall of the device and visually check the condition of each contact, as well as the reliability of their connection. To find wire breaks, use a tester or other device.

If the operation of the pump is accompanied by vibration, the cause of the malfunction is due to problems in the operation of the rotating part of the pump - it is called an impeller. I'll have to disassemble the machine and replace the damaged pump element.

Water discharge accompanied by a buzz? Most likely, the impeller jammed. The most common cause of such problems are stuck objects. In order to remove the debris, you must first remove the drain filter from the body of the machine, and then the snail.

If you are convinced that there is no clogging in the impeller, but the water still leaves the drum very slowly, the reason for the problem lies in the lack of power.

Impeller in a washing machine

It is worthwhile to talk about replacing the pump, if the following "symptoms" appear during the operation of the washing equipment:

The
  • device stopped without completing the execution of the specified program;
  • technique works, but the water does not drain;
  • the discharge of water is constantly accompanied by strange sounds - hum, noise and so on.

Tips for choosing a new pump to replace the

In each specific case, the pump selection is determined by the design features of this unit.

Depending on how the pump is attached to the cochlea, the devices installed by the

  • are isolated with screws( usually 3 screws are used for this);
  • by means of latches( their number can be from 3 to 8 pieces);
  • having combined fasteners.

For connection to the mains, pumps can be equipped with either chips or terminals. The power indicators in these pumps range from 19 to 20 watts. The location of the contacts also matters - the wires can be fastened both in front and behind.

Keep in mind that with some minor differences, pumps from different manufacturing companies are interchangeable.

It is possible to purchase a new drain pump not only in service centers, but also in the Internet.

Repair

Before replacing a failed unit, it must be dismantled.

All machines are arranged in different ways. Therefore, there is no universal algorithm for replacing the pump. The work progress depends on the design features of your washing machine.

In case of self-replacement of the drain pump, the costs will be minimal, since you will only have to pay for the new pump.

Before removing the faulty unit, mark the place of attachment on the cochlea. And even better - take a picture. This will help not to be mistaken and to install the new pump as precisely as possible. By the way, you can capture every step of the repair work, so you will feel much more confident.

Installation on the bottom( Samsung, Indesit, Beko, Ardo, Whirpool, Candy, LG, Ariston)

In the cars of such popular brands as Samsung, Indesit, Beko, Ardo, Whirpool, Candy, LG, Aristonpeople far from the world of technology.

Replacement of the pump in the LG washing machine can be made by the video channel "Secrets of the seller of household appliances."

To get to the pump, you do not have to disassemble the case. Work will be done through the bottom. This method of replacement is considered the easiest.

  • Disconnect the appliance from the mains.
  • Close the water supply to it.
  • Place the unit on its side so that the pump is at the top. Previously, the floor can be covered so as not to damage the body enamel.
  • Remove the panel at the bottom. If the bottom is also protected by a panel, remove it by unscrewing the fixing elements.
  • Unscrew the drain pump. Note that the screws holding it are located on the outside;they should be sought in the area of the drain valve.
  • To extract the pump, push it outwards.
  • Place the pump over a previously prepared container - the remaining water will flow into it.
  • Now unfasten the clamps securing the nozzle and drain hose.
  • Carefully remove the hose and spigot, drain the remaining liquid into the prepared container.

The above algorithm is designed for cases where together with the pump it is necessary to replace the snail.

Unscrewing the drain pump

But it happens that there is no need to change the snail. Then it is necessary to unscrew only the pump, which fixes a few bolts or special latches. Remove the screws that connect the pump to the snail and replace the necessary drainage system element. Pay special attention to the state of the snail, carefully cleaning it from plaque and small debris.

Return all parts and components to their places, repeating the course of work in reverse order.

You can see the process of replacing the pump in the Indesit washing machine in the next video.

With removal of the front wall( Bosch, Siemens, AEG)

In German equipment, the bottom is securely closed, so it is impossible to get inside from below. Here you have to get to the pump through the front wall of the device.

To do this, first remove a pair of fasteners located on the back of the machine and remove the housing cover. Then the panel covering the valve, which is responsible for the drain, is removed. Be sure to remove any residual liquid from the machine.

Let's move on to the most important step - removing the control panel. Remove the detergent dispenser and unscrew the bolts securing the panel. Be careful not to damage the wires that connect the panel to the housing. Put the device on top of the machine.

Next, switch attention to the cuff. Use a screwdriver to loosen the clamp that secures it, then remove it and thread it into the tank.

Remove the bolts securing the pump, and then remove the remaining fasteners on which the front of the housing is held( they should be searched at the top and bottom of the housing).

When removing the cover, be aware that the manhole lock is still connected by wires to the machine. However, if necessary, these wires can be pulled out.

The device of the washing machine

So, the front wall is removed. Let's move on to replacing the drain pump. Here everything is done in a way that was described in detail above:

  1. disconnect the pump;
  2. remove the hose and hose by loosening the clamps that seal the connections;
  3. disconnect the pump from the snail.

Some machines have a simpler replacement: to disconnect the pump, you just need to turn it from right to left.

After carefully cleaning the distributor, fix the new pump on it. Assemble the machine and run it in test mode.

Be sure to watch the video of the "TEXaS TV" channel about replacing the pump in a Bosch washing machine.

With the removal of the rear wall( Electrolux, Zanussi and on machines with vertical loading)

In machines of this type, penetration to the drain pump is through the rear wall of the housing. In devices with vertical loading, the pump is easier to install by removing the side wall of the housing.

Remove the back wall of the :

  • , remove the remaining liquid by draining it through the valve or emergency hose;
  • remove the top housing cover, as described above;
  • find and remove the bolts fixing the rear wall of the machine;
  • separate the inlet valve from the rear wall;
  • remove the rear wall from the cabinet of the washing device.

Remove the side panel:

  • from the back of the machine, remove the screws fixing the side wall.
  • then take out the screw from the lower front part of the
  • case, move the side wall back and down - and just remove it.

The pump is replaced in the standard way:

  1. We disconnect the wires from the drain pump.
  2. Then remove the bolts and / or latches( their availability depends on the modification) and separate the distributor from the pump.
  3. Thoroughly clean the snail from sediment and debris, install a new pump on it.
  4. Connect the contacts and collect the machine.

More details on the pump replacement process can be found in the following video:

With the unscrewing of the strap( Hansa)

To remove the pump from the machines of this brand, it is enough to remove the metal strip located in the basement of the housing. It is on this bar that a pump is fixed, designed to drain water. After unscrewing the pump, follow the standard algorithm, which is described in detail above.

Fault prevention

The average pump is designed for 10 years of operation. But this is with the condition that the user will comply with the rules for the operation of washing equipment. To prevent malfunctions associated with the failure of the drain pump, before loading the laundry into the drum, inspect it for small parts. Too soiled items, pre-soak or rinse. If there is pile or pellets on the clothes - place it in special bags for washing.
