Larch decking board - basic properties of

A quality terracotta board gives an excellent opportunity to decorate the veranda, terrace, part of the space near the country house. However, it is worthwhile to understand that it will experience not only directly functional loads, but also the influence of the environment. That's why it's worth choosing a wood board that will last you a long time. Experts argue that the best option is a terraced board made of larch. It meets all the requirements that are being made today for this type of material.

The larch board is resistant to high humidity, so it easily tolerates such precipitation as snow, rain and even hail.

It does not fade and does not lose the attractiveness of the natural pattern under the influence of direct sunlight. The high density of wood and the necessary treatment make it durable and virtually immune to mechanical damage. You can not be afraid that it will leave marks of furniture or the falling of solid objects. The modern board made of larch completely meets all European standards, for example, its moisture content does not exceed 8-12%.

Laying of the terraced board - an open and hidden way of mounting

The installation of the terrace board is carried out in several stages:

  1. Preparation of the base for support logs. At this stage, the concrete is poured into the area and the screed is subsequently leveled.
  2. Laying of support logs, which are subsequently attached.
  3. Directly laying the board. It can be implemented in two ways: open and hidden.

The open method of mounting a terrace board made of larch wood is the most common. It is due to its simplicity and ease, saving time on laying. This method is as follows: the terraced boards are simply drilled from the front side to the laid logs. Most often as a fixing element used self-tapping screws with anti-corrosion coating.

One of the main drawbacks of this method of laying the board is that the screws remain visible, which somewhat spoils the aesthetics of the coating.

If this moment is of principle for you, then choose the flush mounting technology. In this case, each board with a lamellar cutter is sawed at the sides. The recommended cutting depth is 25 mm. To connect terraced boards with each other use special metal plates all with the same anti-corrosion coating. They are screwed with screws to the lugs, so the fastening is not visible on the floor surface.

Care for a terraced board of larch wood

It is not enough to lay a board for terraces correctly. For its durability, careful and timely care is needed. Thus, it is recommended that the board of larch wood be treated with reducing agents. They prevent its aging and preserve its original appearance. The best time for processing is autumn and spring. As a rule, it is enough to do it 2 times a year, however, under excessive load, the restoration procedure can be carried out up to 4 times.

Larch wood is resistant to rotting processes, but wax emulsions will make the floor of the terrace or veranda almost eternal.

In addition, it is necessary to regularly clean the surface of the coating with a special detergent diluted with water. If you notice fat spots on the floor, use a degreaser. If it does not help, try to eliminate them with a metal brush, but act as neatly as possible. Do not use solvents! To avoid deterioration of water flow from the floor surface, regularly inspect the joints between the boards for contamination.
