Thermal insulation of the pedestal with expanded polystyrene - the beginning of

A large assortment of materials is used to insulate the plinth, for example: basalt and mineral slabs, polystyrene, expanded polystyrene and so on. However, most often the base is warmed with foam, as this is a very affordable material.

Tip! Choosing a heater, consult with a specialist to choose the best material specifically for your case.

In order to get the best possible adhesion between the material and glue, all work on insulation should be carried out at a positive air temperature of at least five degrees Celsius. This will prevent the appearance of freezing on the surface until the final hardening of the plaster. It is also necessary to pre-prepare the surface. To do this, all defects, cracks, cracks, pits are covered with plaster. As a plaster, you can use sand-cement, gypsum or lime mortar. After the plaster has dried, the surface is cleaned and primed.

Preparing for operation

Certain materials are required for the work. Polyfoam of at least 25 densities. You can choose any thickness, but the bigger it is, the better. However, it must be remembered that too thick material will protrude strongly, so the optimum will be 30 millimeters of thickness. For fixing the material, it is best to use plastic dowels with a cap. It will also need a reinforced mesh for puttying. For finishing, it is necessary to prepare a filler for exterior work, facade paint, primer and a sloping corner.

Note! The number of angles must be calculated based on the length of the base.

Tools:

  • A metric bar, a rule with a pencil or a marker, to make a styrofoam layout;
  • Sharp knife, better wallpaper, for cutting material;
  • Hammer;
  • Spatula of various sizes for puttying;
  • Toothed spatula with a tooth size of 10 millimeters;
  • Roller and brush for painting.

Mounting of insulation

The surface of the socle is cleaned of dust and dirt and primed with a deep penetration composition. Dry it according to the manufacturer's recommendations. Next begins the pasting of foam, which starts from the corner. In this regard, the marking and cutting of the material is done in advance. The surface of the socle is smeared with glue using a notched trowel, after which sheets of foam are applied. All joints between sheets are also glued. In addition, making the insulation of the socle, installation foam can fill the gap. After fixing several sheets, they should be fixed with mounting dowels. For this, holes are made in the right places with a perforator. In this way, the whole surface is warmed. At the end, another layer of a deep penetration primer is applied.

Important! The primer should be applied, as it promotes better adhesion between the foam and the next layer of finish.

Next, a sloping metal corner is glued to the same glue that the foam is fixed. After that cement reinforced mesh is mounted. First, it is cut in the same pieces as the insulation. It is necessary to wait the necessary time until the solution holding the mesh is completely dry. The next stage is the plaster of the socle. To do this, use only material that is suitable for outdoor work. After the putty dries, you can start painting with facade beauty. At this stage, you can finish the job, but experts recommend that you still install ebb, because they will extend the lifespan of the socle.
