The comfort of living in a private house depends not only on the quality of the interior decoration, but also on a completely equal footing from the order in the local area. However, numerous puddles on the paths among neatly trimmed lawns and flowering flower beds are capable of nullifying the whole pleasure of this beauty. Moreover, the rain or melted water accumulated on the surface of the ground does not in the most favorable manner affect the technical condition of the foundation of the country house itself.

To eliminate excess water, special hydraulic systems are created, more commonly known as storm sewers. But such a decision at the most unexpected moment of time may cease to fulfill the duties assigned to it. The reason for this failure in most cases is an elementary blockage, for the liquidation of which does not necessarily have to wait for the arrival of specialists for a long time. Most often, to fully clean the storm sewer, it is enough to put quite a bit of your own forces and spend a little time.

Varieties and features of storm sewers.

Before you come to grips with the litter formed in the livevke, it is worth familiarizing yourself with its main types, which can often be found on our sites.

1. An open storm shower, officially referred to as surface drainage. The basis of its design are trays of relatively small depth, located along the tracks and around open areas. Often, a similar solution can be found near the blinds along the perimeter of the basement of the house. Because large amounts of water such storm sewage can not simply pass through, it is often not even connected to sewer collectors, but is taken out somewhere deep into the garden or closer to the flower beds. The most common material for the manufacture of elements of open rainbursts is concrete, although plastic as well as polymer-concrete drainage trays are also common. On top of the gutter formed by trays, special small-cellular lattices are fastened, which allows them to walk without fear of tripping over them.

2. Closed drainage system, it is also deep. Such a storm sewage system is characterized by high capacity and most often serves to drain water from fairly large areas and city streets. Its characteristic feature is an underground network of pipelines, through which water is collected in storm water wells, and from there it is removed to the centralized sewerage system. In some cases, such storm showers are additionally equipped with pumps, that is, they become forced drainage systems.

3. Mixed rainwater sewage system combines the individual elements of the first two types. In practice, it looks like part of the way the discharged rainwater overcomes on the trays located on the surface of the earth, and only then falls into the underground drainage system. In most cases, such systems are gravity, forced pumping of water is used only on absolutely flat low-lying areas of the terrain.

Causes of clogging in the

rainfall The main enemy of any storm sewage system, capable of paralyzing its work, is sand, as well as soil particles brought into the livevke with water. Larger garbage with properly equipped storm sewage to get into it is most often simply not capable, since it is eliminated in time by sand catchers. The liquid dirt unhinderedly enters the system, where it gradually settles, which creates clogging.

Surface drainage is much more often in need of cleaning from blockages. This is not always due to the small size of the cells in the protective grids. Therefore, household rubbish, fallen leaves and full-scale street dirt can very quickly form impassable for water clog.

Technique of storm sewer cleaning.

If this is an open drainage system, in most cases, to eliminate the blockage, it is enough to carefully remove the protective covers from the trays and, with the help of a shovel or scoop, to eliminate the obstacle to water. And sometimes even jets from the hose are enough for this.

Clearing a closed stormwater is a bit more complicated, but it's completely self-contained. First of all, it is necessary to remove and thoroughly clean and wash the filters of the rainwater receivers and sand catchers. If this did not help, then the main litter is in the underground pipes, for cleaning it is best to use a plumbing steel cable. To do this, insert the free end of the cable into the tube as close as possible to the intended place of the blockage, and while doing this rotate the handle, try to push it through to the place of blockage. Having reached the blockage, you must continue rotating the cable until it breaks the blockage. Usually it is enough just to pierce a small hole in the blockage, and the accumulated water masses will finish cleaning themselves, rushing down the system and taking with them particles of blockage.

Hydrodynamic cleaning

This kind of cleaning is the most effective, however it requires special equipment. Cleaning of the storm catcher in this case is done by feeding water under a high pressure into the system, to withstand that no clogs are able. In addition, during hydrodynamic cleaning, the walls of downpipes are very well cleaned at the same time, which reduces the risk of clogging. Also read about rain drain.
