Regardless of what material the walls will be made of, their surface must be prepared. The wallpaper is different, from the most simple, paper, to the newfangled liquid. Naturally, the walls are also prepared taking into account the special features of this or that kind of wallpaper. But the basic technology of preparing walls before gluing wallpaper is still common.
Sequence of work on the preparation of the wall
Removing the old
coating It is necessary to completely remove the remains of the old wallpaper if the wall has been pasted by them. If their pieces are poorly removed, then these places must be drenched with plenty of water. For better impregnation in several places on the wall, you can make small incisions. After this surface cleaning, it must be thoroughly rinsed with water. The task is to remove all remnants of glue, paint, whitewash particles from the wall.
If the wall was previously painted, then at first all chopped off the chisel. After that, sandpaper all the wall is carefully cleaned and washed with warm soapy water. However, if the repair is still a major one, then the paint needs to be removed completely.
Inspection of the wall
- it is necessary to identify all existing cracks, as well as mark places of potholes or bulges that will have to be removed;
- special attention is paid to the presence of traces of mold, fungus, rust.
Handling affected areas
If this is not done, then in time such spots will appear on new wallpapers. The funds are selected based on what the wall is hit.
Priming of the surface
This type of work is mandatory. The fact is that on the wall after cleaning it at least somewhere, but there will be "bare" places( concrete, brick).Primer( as primed, I already wrote) will provide a reliable "link" wallpaper with the entire surface of the wall.
Plastering
The wall, as a rule, will not be level, no matter how carefully the old finish layer has been cleaned. It will have to be leveled. If the finish is produced by liquid wallpaper, it will reduce the consumption of the mixture( quite expensive).
Putty
It is made in the event that there were some irregularities after plastering.
Tips

When working with liquid wallpaper, the wall must be painted white( water-based paint with PVA glue added).
