Blanks

First you need to file the beam for lengths of a certain length:

  • 150 cm - 4 pcs.,
  • 57 cm - 2 pcs.,
  • 52 cm - 2 pcs.,
  • 47 cm - 2 pcs.,
  • 37 cm - 2 pcs..

It is convenient to mark with the marker all the required lengths on the solid beam, and then press the workpiece. The ends of the long blanks are rounded, on one side you can fix the rubber nozzles with screws. With them, the legs will not slide on smooth surfaces.

Retreat 10 cm from the end of the long workpiece, which will serve as the foot of the ladder, and make a chisel 5 * 2.5 cm deep 2 cm away from its edge 24 cm and make a new groove for the steps, and so on. In total, they should be 5 pieces on each long beam. Immediately below each hole for the steps drill a hole for the spoke.

The ends of all steps are chiselled by a chisel on both sides so that they can enter the hole intended for them. Accordingly, the length of this narrowed end should be 2 cm. In addition, the ends are slightly chamfered( by 3-4 mm), since the staircase tapers to the top, and the stairs should stand tightly.

All blanks should be sanded, and, if possible, soaked with antiseptic.

Assembly of the

When all parts are ready, the ends of the steps are greased with carpentry glue, the steps are inserted into the supports and clogged with a kyanik or hammer. Under the steps, the spokes are inserted and fixed from both sides with nuts and bolts.

The plates that will connect the stepladder, cut off the projecting ears and drill holes in the middle of the wide part. Each two plates through these holes are connected by a nut. Also in the plates holes are drilled under the fasteners to the ladder, for this it is better to attach them to the supports and to outline the future location of the nuts. The mechanism of the plates is fixed in the upper part of each of the legs.

To ensure that the ladders do not move apart, they are secured with a nylon cord or chain, fixing the ends at the same height on the posts using a nut and a bolt. If a wooden stepladder is assembled with your own hands, you can make it a little more convenient by attaching, for example, the top of the hooks on which you can hang a bucket. It is also possible to fasten the screws from the plumbing pipe with a diameter of 50 cm with a height of 10-12 cm, and it is convenient to fold a large tool in them.
