How to bend a drywall for arch video.

The arch in the interior opening is mounted after dismantling the door and the partition. It is also necessary to level the walls with plasterboard or plaster. Then profiles for gypsum board are mounted on the leveled surface. To do this, drill holes in the end of the opening. Straight horizontal and vertical profiles are fixed with dowels and self-tapping screws in 10 cm increments. The profiles must be mounted with a recess so that the plasterboard is in the same plane with the wall.

The arch consists of three parts - two arched planes with cut out semicircles and a lower curved strip of plasterboard between them. For planes it is better to use gypsum board with a thickness of 12 cm, and for the lower part - 10 cm. The width of the sheet of drywall, from which the arch is cut, should be slightly larger than the width of the opening. The contour of the arch is a semicircle, the diameter is equal to the width of the doorway.

You can use a flexible plastic sash to draw the contour of the arch. Having fixed it in the corners, through the center of the rectangular sheet of gypsum board we trace the contour of the arch. Cut the most convenient jig saw. The resulting plane of the arch is attached to the guide profiles by screws. Below, see the video on how to make an arch of plasterboard with your own hands, a clear and detailed instruction.

For the bottom curved part of the arch, we also set the guide profile. Profile cuts are pre-cut( you can use metal scissors) in 3 cm increments - 5 cm, depending on the radius of curvature. Now the profile can be easily bent and screwed with screws to the main structure.

Then cut out the strip of drywall. To bend it with the necessary radius on one side punctures are made. For this, it is convenient to use a needle roller, but you can use an awl. After that, the strip should be watered with water. Moistened with a wide brush you need to walk on the surface of gypsum board 3 times. Then we put the strip at an angle, for example, by leaning it on the stool, and leave it for a while. The wet strip of plasterboard bends under its own weight. The resulting curved strip is mounted to the main structure by screws.

All self-tapping screws must be recessed into the drywall. The perforated corner is fixed on the contour of the finished arch. After this, the entire structure is ground and puttyed. After the plaster has completely dried, the surface is ground. Now the arch is ready for further finishing works: painting, wallpapering wallpaper, etc. We watch the video and fix the material.
