The problem of permanently flung doors can be easily solved by installing a door closer. This simple device closes the door independently without additional force. The simplest version of the mechanism should be considered a spring. Of course, this "door closer" will work too sharply and extremely noisy. The ideal option is an adjustable design, the basis of which is also a spring, but enclosed inside a sealed housing in an oil composition. Thanks to such equipment, the door closes smoothly and without unnecessary noise.
Unfortunately, serious damages of the closer can not be eliminated, because the tightness of the design assumes that it can not be disassembled into individual parts and subsequently assembled in accordance with the technology. A serious breakdown is an occasion to acquire a new mechanism. Nevertheless, there are situations when the door closer can be adjusted manually:
Oil leakage
The appearance of a leak indicates that there is a depressurization of the hull and the appearance of damages due to which the oil flows. If you managed to find a damaged place in time, you need to seal the hole, contributing to the extension of the service period of the mechanism. If the damaged area is too large, you will have to purchase a new device;
Broken or deformed rod
This part of the mechanism can always be seen and evaluated visually. Significant force impacts or extreme weather conditions can disable it, becoming the cause of bends, kinks or damage to fasteners. Not too serious flaws can be corrected by welding or buying new individual parts.
Note that the repair of door closers can be avoided by periodically inspecting the mechanisms and adjusting them:
- Turning the adjusting screws in one direction or another can accelerate or, conversely, slow down the movement of the door;
- Turning the nut allows you to adjust the tension of the spring to vary the force that must be applied to open the door;
- Correcting the angle at which the door swings open. To do this, rotate the nut installed on the valve.
Specialists recommend this setting right after installation of the mechanism, as well as changing the season of the year, when there is a serious change in the weather.
