We will make the most simple gate from two gates. Having mastered the technology, you will be able to build and more complex designs: sliding, lifting, etc.

The doors can be swung open and inward. In this moment, be guided by the features of the site and your preferences. The most popular option is outdoor plowing.

The design consists of support racks, frames and plating. For the assembly of supports and framework, pipes and profiles are usually used. The diameter of the pipes and the dimensions of the profiles are selected individually, taking into account the dimensions and weight of the future gates. The main load will fall on the outer elements of the frame. To make the interior parts, you can use a smaller profile. The lining is done by profiled sheets.

Choose the size of the flaps

Before starting to work it is important to determine the optimal size of the swing doors. In this moment, be guided by the dimensions of the vehicle, which will pass through the erecting gates.

So, for the passage of most cars, a gate with a width of 4 m is enough. For a truck, the opening will have to be expanded to an average of 6 m. Based on this, we calculate the width of each leaf. Select the height at your discretion. The most common gate is 2-2,5 m high.

Useful advice! Make the size of the gate with some margin, because it is possible that in the future you will buy a new transport, which will have more impressive dimensions in comparison with the existing car.

To make the work easier and faster, draw a drawing of the future gate with the indication of the dimensions of all the elements of the structure.

Rule 3-4-5 for marking the frame of the gate

Rule 3-4-5 for marking the frame of the gate

Making the foundation

The first step. We mark places for the installation of vertical supports. In total, there will be 3 such racks: one for securing the wicket and the pair for mounting the flaps.

The second step. We excavate pits with a diameter of the order of 20-25 cm( depending on the dimensions of the selected racks, about this later) for the installation of supports. We calculate the depth of the wells so that it is approximately 30-35% of the height of the above-ground part of the supports. We take into account that the height of the door leaf is usually made at 50 cm less than the height of the supports.

Thanks to such a stock, the necessary 20-30 cm gap between the ground and the lower edge of the leaflets will be provided, and the rest of the stock can be used at the request of the owner for mounting various decorative elements at the top of the structure.

The third step. We fall asleep the bottom of each hollow with a 10-15-cm layer of crushed stone. Carefully we compact the pillow.

The fourth step. We prepare the mortar for pouring the supports. We take part of cement M400, a couple of parts of sand and 4 parts of small gravel. Mix the dry ingredients, gradually adding water to them until a mixture of a viscous consistency.

The fifth step. We insert into the pits the support posts. They can be made from different materials, namely:

  • bars measuring 15x15 cm;
  • round logs with a diameter of 20 cm;
  • channel channel with walls with a thickness of at least 1.5 cm;
  • profile pipe section 8x10 cm with walls not thinner than 7 mm.

The pillar is installed in the pit, its vertical position is reached by means of the level

The pole is installed in the pit, its vertical position is reached with the

level. The supports are exposed strictly vertically and pour the solution to the top of the wells. In the case of the use of wooden racks, we pre-treat their deeper parts with an antiseptic and wrap it with a roofing felt or mull it.

In order for the metal supports to be more stable, we can pre-weld with 3-4 horizontal strips of steel reinforcement, metal corner or pipes to the bottom ends.

Let's grab the concrete. He needs at least 2-3 days to do this. In accordance with GOST, concrete is gaining strength on average during the month.

While the concrete dries, we will manufacture the frame.

We make skeleton

A frame is preferably made of the same material as the supports. Most often, racks and frame are made of metal products. We assemble the frame from a profiled pipe.

For the assembly of the carcass we find a horizontal platform that can freely accommodate at least one leaf.

The process is extremely simple: we need to weld a rectangular frame from the previously pre-cut pipe( profile) cut into pieces. The angles must be strictly straight. We are convinced of this with the help of a square.

Welding the frame, reinforce it in the corners with steel corners. To give the frame additional rigidity, we divide it in height by 3 approximately the same parts and weld along the marks of parallel horizontal bridges. The junction of the jumpers with the frame is also reinforced with steel corners. At the same points we weld gate loops.

When the frame is ready, we weld the steel strip around the perimeter to fix the corrugated board

When the frame is ready, we weld the steel strip around the perimeter to fix the corrugated board

Useful advice! There is another popular version of the hardening of the frame. To do this, in the center of the frame to its vertical sides is welded a horizontal jumper, dividing the frame into 2 identical rectangles. After that, the angles of each of these rectangles are connected by diagonal bridges. Choose either of the two hardening methods considered, they are both good.

The frame for the wicket is assembled in the same way. If you want to make a gate directly in the gate, collect the frame in a slightly different order. To do this, weld to the rectangular frame of the selected leaf the transverse and longitudinal metal bridges, thus forming the frame of the wicket. The average dimensions of the wicket are 80х180 cm. If possible, adhere to these values. The fastening points of the hinges on the leaf are displaced to the upper and lower edges of the frame.

Adjusting the casement to the

stands First step. We install gate leafs on supports, which can be made of timber, bricks or other suitable material.

The second step. Align the flap across all planes.

The third step. There are already loop elements on our skeleton. We mark the places for installing the second part of the connecting element on the supports. We weld the hinges to the posts by the marks.

The fourth step. We hang the sash. Remove the supports installed at the beginning of the work.

. We connect the gate with a pipe from above and tie it to the posts of

. Similarly, mount the frame of the second rack. To make the structure even more rigid, we can weld two extreme supports of the gate with the posts of our fencing.

To increase the stability of the gate to wind loads, we can weld a horizontal bar from the metal profile along the upper ends of the support posts. Actual only for those situations when through the gates will pass exclusively passenger transport.

One part of the loop is welded to the rack, the second to the frame, in the proflist before the fastening we make the cutouts.

In conclusion, we have to paint the part of the frame, which will remain on view after the fastening profiled sheets. We select the color of the paint so that it harmonizes well with the color of the proflist and the fence.

width trapezoidal sheet is usually 110 cm. About 10 cm will be spent on the overlap. Thus, to cover the two-meter-wide leaf, you need exactly 2 sheets of material. If desired, the gate can be sewn on both sides.

Fastening carry sheets with screws with hexagonal head nuts or else by special rivets. It is better that the color of the fasteners and the base material be the same.

If necessary, pre-paint the fastening elements. Bolts or rivets are placed in the inner wave of the sheet( one that fits snugly against the frame).Fixation is performed in each wave of the profiled sheet. For greater convenience, we can preliminarily make holes in the frame to accommodate the fasteners.

The wicket is treated similarly to the leaf. It is only necessary to pre-cut the sheets according to the size of the wicket.

Useful comments

Fence ready. Get the job done with maximum quality and the finished result to please you, check out a few helpful comments and incorporate them into the design process of manufacture.

  1. The gates are installed in a single plane with a guard rail.
  2. The gate and gate must be equipped with reliable locks and convenient handles.
  3. Fences and gates should be in harmony in color as each other, and the surrounding landscape.

The obtained knowledge will help you to make high-quality, reliable and beautiful gates from a profiled sheet with your own hands. Follow the instructions, and you will get it.
