If you need to dismantleThe water tank, which has a heating element from below, is secured with a large hexagon nut, as in the photo below, you can do everything quickly.
First of all, disconnect the boiler from the electricity and water supply. Before you unscrew the flexible hoses do not forget to cut off the cold water supply. After disconnecting, you need to drain the water tank, which can easily be done using this video instruction:
When the water is drained, it is necessary to disassemble the bottom cover of the water heater housing, which is usually attached to 2 screws. Under the cover you will find this large nut and thermostat, which must also be removed by disconnecting the suitable terminals to it. Now that you have had free access to the nut, take the gas key number 2 or the hub key to 55, both can be seen on the photo:
. To unscrew the heater tap for self-repair, it must be counter-clockwise. To make it easier to completely disassemble the storage boiler with your own hands, remove it from the wall and turn it upside down. When the nut is unscrewed, carefully remove the TEN by swinging it slightly from side to side. 
Since after draining the water from the tank inside it can remain a small part of it, it is recommended, when disassembling, to substitute a bucket under the boiler so that the remains will be stuck in it, and not on the floor. And another tip - if the scale will prevent the extraction of the heating element, with a hard nonmetallic object, try to clean the hole a little and the heater itself.
Oval Flange
If you have a newer water heater, its design will be different. The heater can be removed in this case by unscrewing the clamping bar. The peculiarity of dismantling the case of such a model is that in no case it is impossible to disassemble the boiler by turning it upside down, as the "master-master" in this video shows:
You yourself see that after dismantling the heating element fell inside the container, which is covered with enamel, so that the tank does not rust from the inside. Of course, when the metal strikes metal, both the heater and the inner cover of the water heater can be damaged, which can not be repaired on their own.
Proceeding from this, it is necessary to do everything without removing the boiler to disassemble the storage water heater with the oval flange. Assemble the product in the reverse order.
Bolts in a circle
Quite popular construction, which occurs in heaters of the brand Termex, Ariston, Polaris and Combustion, is considered fastening the flange of TEN bolts in a circle. These bolts can be 4, 5 or 6, depending on the model.
In order to disassemble an electric boiler of this type, it is necessary, as in the previous cases, to disconnect the power from the network and drain the water. After that, it is better to unscrew the check valve, which can interfere. One of the frequent difficulties that arise when the heater is completely disassembled by oneself can be the search for cogs that fix the plastic cover. If you can not find the fixing points, tear off the stickers on this cover. Sometimes manufacturers hide the hats of self-tapping screws under the nameplate.
When you disassemble the thermostat and all the interfering wires, you can start unwinding the bolts on the water heater. The best way is to unscrew them with a size wrench.
By the way, Ariston in some of its storage boilers of this design does not use bolts, but on the contrary - nuts that are wound on the studs, as shown in the photo above.
In more expensive models of water heaters with complete disassembly, you can see a bunch of wires and 2 heaters installed near each other. You can disassemble this device by analogy with the previous instructions, but we recommend you take a picture of the correct connection of all the wires before they are disconnected, so that you do not get confused and quickly assemble the tank.
The device with a dry heater can be disassembled exactly according to the same procedure, so you should not have any questions about how to proceed.
