Tasks and application of a magnetic drill

The drill on a magnetic bed is specially designed to drill a variety of holes, cut threads, work with spiral and core drills, do countersink and reamer, work in difficult conditions. The magnetic drilling machine is designed to work on any metal surface without moving the structure.

It can be used both in industrial production and in the field. Without it, you can not do with the repair of large-sized machines and construction equipment, installation or construction of metal structures. Magnetic machines are often used in engineering and shipbuilding, in the construction of bridges, reservoirs, pipelines.

Magnetic drill - properties and characteristics of

The drill on a magnet has its own distinctive feature. It is equipped with an electromagnetic sole, which in the process of work is fixed to the surface being treated. The base is reliably magnetized to the metal plane with a force of up to five tons, which makes it possible to use such machines for operation in any position: horizontal, vertical, inclined, and even for work in an inverted position, that is overhead.

The main advantage of such a drill in comparison with standard drilling machines is its weight, which ranges from 9 kg in the lightest models to 25 kg in the heaviest ones. Thus, with such an apparatus it is easy to control, transfer or transport it during operation, if necessary, perform work on the facades of buildings, span bridges.

The main working characteristic for such a machine is the drilling diameter. The minimum diameter is 1 mm, it can be made with a spiral drill, while the core bit can be made relatively large diameters, the maximum - 150 mm.

Features and design of the magnetic drill

The use of a drill with crown drills is preferable, because by their design they allow you to increase the drilling speed, make a hole with a high quality surface, save on consumables. In addition, it should be noted that if the electromagnetic drill is equipped with a spiral drill, the friction will significantly exceed the performance when working with a core drill, which leads to a gradual reduction in the service life.

To reduce friction during operation and to cool the working surface of drills and crowns, a lubricating-cooling liquid is supplied to the drilling area. Reducing friction, this fluid reduces the load on the engine, which prolongs the trouble-free operation of the machine.

The vast majority of manufacturers use a special design scheme that eliminates the unplanned starting of a drilling rig, for example, when power is cut off. Special tools significantly expand the field of application of magnetic racks, in particular on non-magnetic or uneven surfaces.

For non-magnetic surfaces, vacuum fixing plates are used. A magnetic column drill is often equipped with a transmission gearbox with a slip clutch that stops the engine in the event of a jamming of the drill and prevents damage to both the engine and the drill, which is often expensive.
